Hey K! the outer casing has a flange, that's a Europa part, the bearing assenmbly could go into it either way I think. The sphere protrudes more on one side than the other so if the protrusion is put in first it will be restrained from rotating too much by the hole in the outer casing. Hi 914 folks, This is a new engine, first try. After the TCU runs through it's checks, and runs the servo/waste gate back and forth, the servo keeps making a noise like not finding it's zero position. The servo is not really moving, not visible at least. What could be wrong? I had to remove/attach the servo cable cause of routing, it it now too tight or too loose? Can't find real instruction in the manuals. Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

Nev, Graham, Kingsley and all the other Great Pin Men I checked MY case and... - bearings are fully inserted - port side rotates 360 any direction very sensitively - that is why it is difficult to rigg the port side wing - stbd side rotates like port side but its quite tight - that is why it is easy to rigg the stbd side wing - MY bearings (sphere part of it) are symmetrical - bearing outer casing has a flange, so it cannot go any deeper - like Kingsley wrote they can go in only one way Is it possible there are two kind of the flap bearings??? Fully rotating models and restricted models??? If somebody will find a truth /solution of this case, please let me know. I will be this eve in the workshop trying to find some comprehension and will check my mail regularly. I am very tempted to make my pin longer by adding a cone shape part to it (build by redux-flox). One builder found a way to sky by building a nice little " cone. Hi All, After refitting the engine (912s) having completed Mod 72, I find that the alt light didn't come on. I've checked all the wires and the bulb. I started the engine for a few minutes and it seems that there is no charge from the alternator. Again I checked all the wires from the alternator to the regulator fuses etc. As every thing was working fine before, and I haven't touched or altered anything I'm a little confused. Could the regulator be duff ? Any advise would be welcome, but bear in mind I'm no electrician :-( Cheers Danny ( G-c.e.r.i )

Danny Since things were working before I would look again at each item you disconnected and reconnected and others you may have bumped or pulled on. Check the terminal connections at end of wires and also grip end of terminal and give slight pull on wire to assure there is not a break inside of the insulation sheath of wire. Check and recheck. Make sure your grounds are good. Its probably not your regulator if it was working before but check your connections there as well.Good luck. The servo motor will make a slight buzz noise as it waits for the TCU to start telling it something to do! You wont hear it when the engine is running! The servo is likely fine. There are instructions for setting the cable and waste gate in the installation manual. Switch on the TCU, the servo motor runs with waste gate closed, slacken the adjustment screw on servo cable support(located at turbo where cable first attaches to turbo) and turn adjustment screw until wastegate is completely closed, proper pretensioning of the servo cable is achieved by turning the adjustment screw by one complete rotation. All this is done at the factory in the course of the test run for the engine but if disconnected it could be off. Hope this helps. Had a similar experience. Turned out to be a blown main fuse... Raimo, I rotate the bearing ball by the finger for about 20 and it never goes inside. So if you can push the ball outside the bearing than there is something wrong with the bearings.
