Hi Friends and Folks
Just to let you know: Did the first engine start today. No leaks, no smoke, nothing
wrong really. Did all the Rotax recommended oil priming, and it started on
less then a half rotation of the prop. And that by 6 C outside temperature.
Boy, this feels good, now i have to put the brakes on myself not to hurry to finish
the hundreds of things still to do before first flight. But it won't be
long!
I'll put some pictures on http://www.europaowners.org/kit600 later today.
Regards,
Jos Okhuijsen

One other item I forgot to mention.....for power connection through the
firewall I have installed a unit that has two plates with about ten positions
for
spade/quick connect fittings to attach to, one for each side of the firewall
and has a large bolt going through the firewall connecting them together to
which you attach the cable coming from the battery after going through the 30
amp fuse block. I have another one used for the ground side that doesn't have
a inline fuse.
This is available from Electric Bob at AeroElectric.com. But I've attached
the .pdf picture of it.

Mike,
Do you have or intend to have a cover for your 'live' Forest of Tabs ?
Just thinking this is quite a large area to be 'live' if not protected.
Cheers
Kingsley in Oz.

Raimo
Congratulations and may your first flight go well.
Just a thought, the Europa mono is not the same as any other airplane
when it's on the ground and moving. You would be wise to be sure that
the first flight pilot is current on type. You need to remember that if
anything is not quite right only a current pilot will see it quickly
enough to avoid a mishap. Even a broken prop is expensive.

For those that have completed Mod 72, did you have to drive the insert i
nto position or did it slide all the way into position. I am able to ge
t the insert slid most of the way into the tube leaving about 1" to be d
riven in with a punch. I hate to start driving the insert in only to re
alize that I am unable to seat it fully.
Regards,
Erich Trombley

Erich,
In my case, it took some gentle tapping with a 1 lb hammer on a block
of wood to press the tubing into place.
I compared the 110mm length of the tube to the length of the reamer
so I would know when I had the reamer in sufficiently far to allow
the tube to seat fully.
You can check my build site (see signature block). Go to Year #6 Q1
2007, page #3 for pics and some description.
Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger
