Small thing makes rigging fun, fast and easy - now it is for me possible to do it from the trailer in 5 minutes as advertised. I have to point also: my bearings are fully pushed into their housings and they cannot go any deeper (yes - I have hammered them) and they are still rotating free 360 degrees. But because of Rons thick magic grease they are unsensitive enough today (for me at least). I think that it is important that opinions are stated in an objective manner on the list even if they are strongly felt. If there are specific instances of failure mechanisms which can be quoted with details, by all means they should be explained. My complements on your http://contrails.free.fr/ site. An interesting collection of technical articles. Just disagreeing on a point is no problem, whereas affirming a suggestion is ill and might kill really needs to be supported with hard facts or proven engineering considerations. Please don't lose sleep on throttle actuation. The most frequent source of engine trouble on an experimental is related to fuel supply, not throttles. Hallett III" Subject: Europa-List: push pull throttle Hi all, First, let me thank you all for such worth while thoughts and ideas. Well after sitting on the side lines most of the time, I guess I need to put in my nickels worth. We were flying an C-150 Texas Tail Dragger doing touch and goes. We started a go around when both my instructor and I noted some thing was not quite right, then we realized the throttle was all the way to the panel and we were only getting 1900 rpm vs 2500 rpm. Fortunately it was a cool winter day, the airport is at 5040 ft and we were very close to gross weight. We made an abbreviated pattern and landed on an intersecting runway with out problem. The issue was the push-pull cable housing behind the panel had broken. It was plastic and just gave up the ghost after so many years of use. My point is that if there had been a spring on the throttle, we could have still had throttle control. Instead all we had was throttle back, not in. A combination of push-pull and a spring must be the best of possible designs. Do you suppose that'll keep it intact [provided I don't ask more than about 20 amps from it in cruise]? I visited the Warp Drive stand at S n F last year and they confirmed they have only one mould for all blades. Even with a fairly comprehensive panel I find that with the low current draw of modern avionics this is not a problem. However the load certainly increases rapidly if you include lighting other than strobes. The amount of cooling you will be adding may well make the difference but you may wish to check whether you really need a 20A capability in the cruise. Even a NACA duct adds significant drag.
