Hi Bob,
I agree with you that there is no "guarantee" the bonding with Loctite
will hold.....
I suggest it _may_ be a fix for those assemblies where you have just
very little play (below the tolarated 1/2", which was my case back in
1999, due to "bad" building....).
And in my case the fix with Loctite 603 proved to hold untill today (7
years and 700hrs+)
But of course the best fix is mod 62, properly done outside the aircraft....
Klaus

Graham,
TP9 was reinforced with steel rings welded to each side. The largest portion of
the taper pin is .447 inches.

Hi Bob,
My hangar/garage was flooded to 3 feet and my Trailer was completely under
water as were 2 Mig Welders, my compressor, most of my power tools and
assorted tool boxes and trolleys. My beautiful new Chysler Crossfire was flooded
to the dashboard and appears to be a write-off. Thank goodness my aeroplane
was in it's hangar at Abbots Bromley. Our kennels has survived, gold medals
for swimming were awarded to staff rescuing dogs and cats (I'm not eligible as
I'm both management and retired!) The Cattery is now closed and will be
rebuilt from scratch as the Insurance company think that will be the cheapest
option.
Hey ho, just another day in my life and of course, according to my Wife,
it's all my fault!! Can I come and live at your house as well?

Yes, Graham, that's my understanding: it was a pip-pin.
Kind regards,

Pip pin I think, can you confirm Jeremy? No one has yet worked out how
that happened.

Dear Bob
I was on a floodable farm for some years and experienced a few floods,
swimming to get the cattle off the flats at one stage.
I don't know which Bob you are writing to but I can understand a little
of how you are feeling. I wish you good luck in getting things together
again. Hopefully it will not be as bad as it first appears and you can
do at least some rescuing.
I hope a surge of energy engulfs you and you can "get stuck into it" as
they wold say in Oz.
Best Wishes
JR (Bob) Gowing UK Kit 327 in Oz.

Subject: | N81EU incident - the culprit |
Hi All,
today I can report with confidence that the reason for the power loss in
N81EU on Feb 24 was fuel starvation.
I had changed the fuel filter on the main-line the day before the
incident and as you can see on this photograph:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/tosstudio/644899802/"
title="Photo Sharing"><img
src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1252/644899802_5320589274.jpg"
width="500" height="367" alt="culprit" /></a>
the fuel line was worn (10 year old factory supplied original). One
strand of the tube did get into the fuel filter inlet and restricted
fuel flow.
I had sufficient fuel in the line for the take-off roll, yet during the
early part of the climb-out the engine quit.
~~~~~~~~
I shall later report on the moments right after that and the sequence of
the forced landing. Would like to discuss it with Kim Prout though first
to make it more authoritative.
be well - safe Landings
<Thomas, N81EU>
This should work great in an aircraft, zero cooling drag, does not requir
e
high grade fuel, allows high compression ratios - looks interesting!
