screen having 1000nits dimming down to 12, driven by a Mini Mac with
MountainScope software to try to keep up. I see my inspector Friday and will
see if I get a good fit.

I just received my monowheel speed kit. I tried to remove the outrigger
OR3 fork to install the fairings. No way. Then I tried to remove the
nylon leg from OR1. Impossible. May be the nylon has expanded with

If you get desperate try putting the whole leg in a freezer for a few hours
and then locally heat the aluminium fittings with a hot air gun. As they c
onduct heat quicker they may expand sufficiently to become loose.

nylon absorbs up to 7% by weight of water so probably has swolen. You
might try dehydrating it with silica gell?

Remi.
I encountered the same problem in a similar situation. Your intellect will
not serve you well
here, you have to resort to brute force:
Put a bolt fitting the axle holes of the fork through the 2 holes. The bolt
must be long enough to extend
at least 3-4 centimeters either side of the wheel fork.
Then strike the bolt with many small strikes parallel to the leg, on altern
ate sides of the fork,
and you will see the fork moving gradually off the leg. At least I did.
Now, I have a problem:
I've just put on a new mono-tyre, McReady Air-trac 8.00 x 6. pumped to 15
psi.
It turns out that the tyre is in contact with the sides of the wheel leg, e
mitting sgueals during taxy like a couple
of fighting piglets.
It is not only the pensive looks from stewardesses and other impression-wor
thy groups connected to
aviation that bothers me, when I pass them by, squealing insanely, it is al
so the palpable temperature of the
sides of the tyre after taxying to the hangar.
Imagine the loss of face and money, if the squealing progress comes to an a
brupt halt with an almighty
thunderclap from a burst inner tube in front of an awe-struck crowd!
Apart from parting with another 100 =A3 buying a 7.00 x 6 tyre, is there any
possibility of splaying the UC-leg
about one mm each side=3F I already have untightened the central bolt through
the hub a couple of threads.
To no avail.
Any suggestions=3F

Hi! Guys
The only assistance I received on my call for help was Graham Singleton
with a message about neutrons! I have no intention of changing my system
so it's a vacuum system and it will stay since I don't believe in buying
gear for the sake of getting rid of working gear.
Perhaps I may have a response to the following :-
The Rapco vacuum diagram on the Internet shows a typical pipe circuit,
I have replicated it on my pipe layout. The diagram shows the gauge to
have a port with a tiny letter "P" and the other port with a letter "V".
Unfortunately my gauge whilst it is similar just doesn't have the ident.
letters stamped on it.
One of the ports operates the gauge when you suck the pipe, the other
seems to be unable to pass air either way by mouth. If I could identify
which port is which I may be able to sort out my problem?
Does anyone know just what the "dead" port does?
It always worked with the Jabiru so I'm baffled.
Then on top of this my regulator has only one connection IN and one
connection OUT. I have overcome that by "T" connecting the air exit
ports of DI and AH together for onwards to the regulator and then vac
pump. The filter delivers to two pipes for incoming air to the DI and AH
connections which are marked.
Can I presume that when the word "VAC" is on an instrument port it needs
to be headed to the pump via the regulator?
No matter how the gauge is connected the gyro's run whilst the engine
runs.
Thanks useful suggestions in anticipation.

leaking connector at the "tee". Does this mean that the carb balancing
done will be now "off track "?
Made serious attempts at solving the vac gauge failure to register the
vacuum. It works when sucked by mouth on the "v" pipe (I think it was !)
but nothing on the other pipe (what does it do ?)
At what stage do I suspect the new Rapco pump isn't actually pulling
enough vacuum?(but can hear the gyros overrunning on engine shut down.
And they work slower with a vacuum cleaner connected in lieu of the
pump)
Thanks in anticipation of any suggestions.

Nylon expands when it absorbs moisture. So you could try drying them
for a few days. However, I found that the nylon legs supplied with the
kit were slightly larger in diameter than the OR1 and Or3 sockets. I
had to shave off on a lathe to get it to fit properly. If you forced
them in, it may be impossible to remove. The only alternative would be
to cut off the legs and drill out the nylon. I would try the drying
option first.

Further to my last cry for help ....I've sorted it out "P" stands for
Pressure which is ambient . "V " obviously stands for Vacuum. To
identify "P" on the gauge blow it and "V" suck it . Together they move
the gauge needle. In the same direction.
Thanks for the thought you may have made on this vexed question. Like
the Ignition connectors slight lack of information like no letters on
the gauge doesn't help without the basic knowledge.

Bob,
the other side of the gauge should be connected to the line going to the
air filter.
If the gauge reads when you suck on the pipe then I would thing that is
the one to connect to the Vac side.
On my gauge it is marked V and P. The v relates to vent or air filter
line and P relates to the vac side.
You are correct with the connections to the regulator (mine also has a
single pipe with a "T".

those gear legs are not too difficult to bend. You could jack it out a
few mm. then squeeze it back in th fiut the wheel with a block of wood
where the tire touches to hold the gap at that point.

I had the same problem getting the nylon out to get the forks painted. I put them
in the freezer. The next day they fell out when I picked them up.

Hi! Geoff and Ivor,
Thanks for the " leg up". It all becomes more clear when you realise
that one side takes incoming pressure and the other side takes the
vacuum, but then having no letters on my gauge confounded me still
further. Hopefully apart from Mod 74 and the PFA Flight test permit that
will be all snagging done!
I can say I now understand why Rotax drivers say 90% done and 95% still
to do. I could have thrown the Jabiru in three times in the time I've
been pratting about with this! However obviously I can't put this down
to Rotax but inadequate labelling when dismantling and replacing pipes
on my part.

Bob,
the other side of the gauge should be connected to the line going to the
air filter.
If the gauge reads when you suck on the pipe then I would thing that is
the one to connect to the Vac side.
On my gauge it is marked V and P. The v relates to vent or air filter
line and P relates to the vac side.
You are correct with the connections to the regulator (mine also has a
single pipe with a "T".
