It is a one off for G-GIDY - as far as I'm aware there is no club mod. I doubt the PFA would consider anything to do with the fuel system as anything other than a formal mod application. There are some pictures on the owners forum. I would be happy to show you the information I supplied to the PFA if it would help. While you would still need to apply to the PFA on their mod form, approval of similar mods on other aircraft can be of help. Regards Paul I have installed my fuel system xx months ago in the belief that scrapping the two Europa Filters in the cockpit and replacing them with a single Andair Gascolator under the rear baggage shelf together with the pump will be OK. The supply is from the 'two tanks' to an Andair Selector taking one line to the Gascolator then to the pump. I think other builders have done similar things. I was wondering if there is a Official or Club MOD. for this type of system (Can not find one) or is it considered a Minor Mod.? that will be ok'd by the Inspector? Dave Park Bld 371. (90%?? Kingsley, Not a mod - a requirement in the build manual! :-) I went a step further on mine and implemented a single piece of ply with an elongated hole - that way it sets the skin separation and holds it. Kind regards, Jeremy From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Kingsley Hurst Sent: 24 August 2007 05:34 Subject: RE: Europa-List: Trim Tab drive pins Creighton Do you have a couple of pieces of plywood (or similar) inside the rear of the fuse just ahead of the "T" bar slot to limit the sideways movement of the "T" bar on assembly and disassembly of the tailplanes ? The two guides should have minimum gap between them but still be wide enough to allow full and free movement of the 'T' bar throughout full deflection of the tailplanes. I don't remember this ever being a mod but was certainly a recommended suggestion. I'm sure it will save your having to employ a second person as you suggested below. Regards Kingsley in Oz. -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Creighton Smith Sent: Friday, 24 August 2007 1:13 AM Subject: Europa-List: Trim Tab drive pins Good morning all, We installed the larger/stronger mod of the TP16P & TP16S drive pins (which doesn't seem to be listed in the current mods list) per instructions and with just a few on/off cycles of the horizontal stabilizers, each has cracked where the 3 layers bid wrap 90deg around the front. This appears to be a result of the TS05 link rod cocking upon removal and jamming the drive pins in the TS06 bushes (which are a lovely fit) which results in a racking load jamming the drive pins. Obviously we have to do this again (irritating as the originals exhibited no such symptoms), but I must know if anyone else has experienced this, and what the solution might be. Stationing a second person at the tail to ensure the link rod does not deviate from perpendicular to the drive pins while the tailplanes are being pulled is obvious but a bit labor intensive. MessageJeremy, > Not a mod - a requirement in the build manual! :-) It may be a requirement in the later build manuals but I'm sure it is not in my Classic manual. I think I remember seeing it mentioned in some Tech Talk article yonks ago. Irrespective, it seems Creighton may not have it installed which is the crux of the point I was trying to make. Hi Folks, We now have half a dozen aircraft intending to participate in thi s trip. There is room for a couple more. You will be reassured to learn tha t the 10 hour tail plane check will present no problems. The PFA have given me temporary Tail Plane Inspector status for the trip, and we have a PFA i nspector with us as well. It is worth coming along for the free checkouts, if nothing else. We have had a couple of good suggestions for places to go, and we are all set for the 13th. September. Please contact me by e-mail if you are intending to come along. Hi Bryan It's a sad fact of life. nothing happens for months and then it all happens at once. I'd very much love to be taking you up on your kind offer of a seat in Sadie, but I've promised to take Jane to the N.York Moors that week to celebrate her half-century birthday. What a bummer. There are times when being completely independent has its advantages. you can be greedy and do everything you want! Sadly on this occasion it's not the case. I hope you have a great trip.
