Well thats exactly how i get in - by sitting on the leading edge and swinging
in, untill i took a 16 stone passenger down the the scilly isles last monday and
noticed the section between the leading edge and the spar flexing conciderably
      with his weight on there,
thanks bill and sue - looks like ill stick to the way its meant to be.

Is there another way to get in? I always sit on the wing and throw my
      feet in.

| Subject: | G-PTAG gets it up again ! Special note to most about pitot |
snap connectors and perrished "o" rings too.

      Hi! All,
Pleased to report that after 18 months grounded "Me and my bird got it
up" today. First landing was a little rusty especially since I hadn't
thought to do a stall test to prove the ASI was good so landed a little
fast, second was fair but the nose came off as a secondary lift was
      caught in time.
Quite a learning curve knowing where the power is, compared with the
noise of the Jabiru Six etc. but I expect I'll get used to it! Thrilled
to find the temperatures are all good .especially with the massive
changes to the front of the cowl and the barrel hood fitted.

Just a note to other Europa operators:-
My ASI problem was partly due to a disturbed pitot pipe connection, but
also importantly to note that the "o" rings on the pitot pipe connectors
at the wing fitment were badly perished, only really identifiable by
removing them but not without a replacement to hand!
The size of the "o" rings for 1/8" connectors is :- 3/16" ID 5/16"OD
making a sectional diameter of 1/16" for the rubber. There will be a
dozen or so in the "assortment " box held by any hydraulics or
pneumatics outfit. Suggest the club gets a supply provisioned. IMHO an
annual inspection should remove these rings and put them under a
magnifying glass considering how important the instrument is to safe
landing. Mine must be 10 years old with the kit being collected in 1997
plus however long on Europa's shelf!

Smile is beginning to break out ..!
      Regards
      Bob H G-PTAG

glad to hear you're flying again, fly far and safe.
I don't believe these Ozmericans know much about quality booze,
Kingsley admitted to enjoying Staffordshire beer when he was here, was
he just being diplomatic? Wonder why he has to recommend 4X? when

He has to lift his body in!
That's the way I did it when Thomas Scherer took me flying a few weeks
after my big mistake. (not accepting a controlled crash)
I had lost 35lbs from a fitish 170 lbs so there wasn't too much to lift.

      Jeff,

I appreciate your sense of humor...but, my question was a serious one.
With the trigear, do you still end up sitting on top of the head rest
while entering/exiting, or are other gymnastics involved?

Sorry Fred, I couldn't resist the fun. Yes I sit on the headrest and
slid in. When I saw this thread I wondered if someone had a better way
but I'm following the lead of most tri-flyers. Sit on the wing, lift
the but to the headrest then slid in. If there is a better way I'm all
      ears.
      Best Regards,
      Jeff R.

I concur with Jeff's method of entering the tri gear. To get out I do find
that gravity is a great help in that once sitting on the headrest, by
flicking feet outside it is then possible to slide off the front edge of the
wing but normally with one hand placed about 1 to 2 feet out board on the
wing about mid spar. This avoids standing on the wing at any time.
It certainly was essential to reinforce the bottom of the door cill as I use
that to lift myself in and out at times during the process.
