Steve,
sorry it's taken a while to reply, I took this message on another computer
and then forgot about it.
You can get a Europa XS flight simulator (a Tri-gear version) for the
Microsoft Flight Sim at the following site.

Hi Svein
I think they all seem to do that. It's very noticeable with the wings
removed when you peer into the "space", so I wouldnt worry to much about
the swelling. If Ron is correct however, then I wouldnt leave it empty for
any period of time from now on. Just my opinion.
Cheers
Alan

Ron, Alan,
I flushed my tank with salt water (to fascilitate removing swarf after
opening holes) and then with fuel before fitting the tank into the cockpit
module. Left the fuel (full tank) in for abt one week to check if any
pinhole leaks. Thereafter it was left empty/dry for about 3 1/2 years. I
now have 35 hours flight time and 45 landings (none hard - yet!). No
cracking of the tank, but it shows clear signs of bulging around the spacers
on the inside of the seat backs, which is a bit worrying although I
understand it is to be expected.
Best regards,
Svein

Svein,
It was Nigel Charles who mentioned it for the first time already a couple of
years ago. He specified that the capacity raised by 6-7 liters but that is
up to every body in particular to remeasure the contents. I am also used to
keep it plenished to avoid eventual condensation. Anyway it is a point in my
checklist and easy for those who rig and derig for every flight, like I do.
Regards,
Karel Vranken.

Thanks, Alan. I agree on not leaving the tank empty. Easy enough - fly
often!

Karel,
Interesting - will remember this for next year's annual (just completed this
year's) and then re-measure the quantity and re-calibrate the sight tube
volume marks.

I have 3mm 4mm and 6mm at $5.00 each.... they were fine in auto gas
but now the oil companies are putting all kinds of stuff in there so
you are on your own.. On a brighter note, all the EZs that are
running auto gas have not had any problems with the floats.. I have a
test case at 5 yrs with auto fuel and no sign of degradation (thats
auto fuel 5 yrs old, not the new stuff) . They are made of cork. Av
gas is of course good to go.
My new web site for the gauges I make is www.atkinsonfuelgauges.com
if you want to spread that around or need some info about them.
You can send me a check;

Ethanol will seriously degrade the binders in cork products.

I don't know if this is a continuation of my issue of my fuel tank crack
that I wrote about on the 16 th of August but the crack showed up after
refilling a tank that had been previously always kept full. My estimate is
that it was empty for about 5 or 6 weeks in a pretty hot AZ garage.
Probably over 100 F every day.
