Gents, http://cgi.ebay.com/rotax-912-914-experimental-aircraft-UAV-engine_W0QQitemZ220160581113QQihZ012QQcategoryZ88433QQcmdZViewItem is probably an X-Predator engine. Starting bid is $17,000 and it is claimed 140 HP and overhauled. A week left on the auction. Anyone want to try one? I'm sure that there are plenty of folks out there who'd like to see how one works out. Also, there's another interesting group of engines built up from government surplus Rotax engines http://www.experimentalfuelinjection.com/ Costs range from $12,000 to $17,000 (US$). Has anyone out there tried one of them? All, I have looked into the Fuel-injected 914's done by Experimentalfuelinjection.com and they look to be very well engineered (they are engines out of the predators) but I don't really want to be the test bed. However, it is nearly impossible to get a new 914 within a reasonable amount of time (most guys won't even quote a lead time and others say at least 6 months). Somebody has got to have one they want to get rid of...? Bob, I sent you an email requesting information on your alternator setup on your Europa. From the images I saw, it looks like you found a gear or spline driven alternator that mounts to the back of the gearbox. Can you provide me with a link or contact information of the person or company I could get one of these from? It would be greatly appreciated. -------- Darin Hawkes Series 7 (under Construction) 914 Turbo Ogden, Utah Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=140439#140439

Darin, Arrrgggghhhh!! Sorry about not replying your e-mail. Life has been imposing itself hard the last couple weeks. Notice, there has been no work posted on my build site recently. The generator on my Europa was purchased from Bob and Russell at Flight Crafters. http://www.flightcrafters.com/ The generator mounts on on the back of the gearbox. There is a gear on the generator that connects with an accessory gear on the back of the prop drive gear. Go to my build web site http://www.europaowners.org/ and thence on to the Lockwood School album. In the Lockwood School album, go to the 2nd page. Down almost half way, there are pics of the gearbox being removed. On pic DSCN5164 you can see the gear that the generator engages. On my main page, there is a small album of the generator showing all the bits received and the gear on the front. There is also more information on where the alternator was obtained. From my recollection, the gear on the generator has 12 teeth. The accessory gear has around 28 teeth. That runs the alternator at 2.3 X the prop speed. So the alternator should run around the same speed as the engine. I believe that the alternator is rated at 60 amps, but have been warned not to plan on more than 40 amps. Once things are running, I'll post the actual output. I hope this helps. GOod building and great flying, Bob Borger. Plexi to be installed and some final body fill/smooth work to do before the aircraft goes to the airport where I have room to do the wings-on work. to "our colonial members" and the list moderator. Hi! All I guess you are by now all aware of my computer demise. Also a large number of you will perhaps be pleased this has resulted in tirade of messages "all things anti- European Soviet Lunacy " being temporarily suspended! However I have no axe to grind, should you prefer not to "partake" in a continuance of my efforts in this line.(my second hobby! ) So I would appreciate a message from all ..both who just wish me to have their e-mail and full contact details and indeed those who clearly would prefer me to have their contact details but without the constant diatribe ? So now's your long awaited opportunity to use your prerogative , but should it be the latter I do hope you will keep "up to speed" on the lies and posturing which goes on in the name of a corrupt, unaudited, undemocratic, headlong rush into a bureaucratic federal sellout of our country, so that when the time comes you will march in the appropriate direction and "repel boarders" instead of oblivion! Me?.... I'll be on the Referendum March in London on October 27th by hook or by crook!(only two Radio Therapy sessions left out of a total of 35!) Regards to all Bob Harrison. Hi folks, I have consulted at the highest level, and taken into account concerns for conserving tailplane flying time together with the need for adequate nouris hment. It has been decided that the venue for Friday's doth will be Shobdon . I am sure that Adrian Lloyd will be happy to check your tailplane whilst you are there if you should need it. Shobdon does serve excellent bacon butties, and it is fairly central for th e majority. Fly safely! Bryan _________________________________________________________________ ! ilnews

All - Really appreciate the feedback and interest on this issue. Based on this initial input, it appears that we may have identified 3 or 4 Europa Mono pilots (current/future) who will be willing to step up to assist newbies in some kind of transition training. I'll be glad to put a short list together, after we've confirmed with the pilots, but where should we post it for all to see. One possibility is to add it as a column in the memberlist, but I suspect that may be too cumbersome...any suggestions? Is there a "resource" section in the Europa forum... I may have missed it. Could someone touch base with the Europa team to involve them in this perhaps? Hi! Troy There is a mod. Variant which allows access through the flap close out. I requested it be considered but was "knocked back " .now having invaded mine the variant has been produced. However you need to clearly establish that the threaded hole is absolutely central to the sandwich stack (including the edge of the flap hinge bracket to be "eyed" up also in line with the edge of the same stack since the threaded hole also goes through it. To remedy any deficiency with these items would IMHO be very difficult through the flap close out.
