Hi! Richard/all
I have it from Andy Draper that Issue 4 is to do with the use of
Loctite. However I also have assurances that those with my PFA approved
Torque Tube clamps are exempt from the Loctite requirement. ...Not sure
yet about the 10 hour inspection requirement.. however.

The PFA advise that the CAA were too quick off the mark and the Issue 4 will
be on its way to all owners hopefully by the end of this week.

Subject: | Panel Autocad drawing |
Does anyone have an Autocad drawing of the panel they'd be prepared to post please?
I was intending to potter about with an Autocad drawing of my panel partly because
I'm a bit limited on what I can do to the plane until I find a new workshop
and also as an exercise to familiarise myself with Autocad.
I took some measurements of my panel and drew up a blank -which is clearly wrong!
I must have cocked-up the measurements but re-measuring it involves two hours
driving at present... hence the request.
Thanks
Bill

Alfred,
Thanks Alfred, that's exactly what I need but, despite your extremely swift response,
Vaughn Teegarden just beat you to it!- I've just responded to a similar
offer from him. So it's very kind of you and much appreciated, but I should
have his files shortly.
Best wishes
Bill

Bob,
I understand from Francis Donaldson that the CAA were a bit ahead of the
game and that PFA 247/FSB-004 Issue 4 is being distributed and will be
posted on the PFA web site tomorrow. The use of Loctite will then allow the
10 hour inspection to revert to an annual inspection.
I asked Francis specifically about your Torque Tube clamps and the 10 hour
inspection, and he said that you would have to make a case to the PFA for
aircraft fitted with your clamps to be exempt from the 10 hour inspection --
no doubt he would wish to know how many aircraft had been fitted and whether
any player had been found during the 10 hour inspections already carried
out.
Please argue your case with Francis: you don't need to convince me of the
effectiveness of your clamps.

Mike

Subject: | MPD 2007-005 R1.....implications with Torque Tube Clamp |
Mod.
Hi! All who have invested in my Torque Tube Clamp Mod.
I am not aware of anyone finding tail plane slop after fitting my clamps
(except those who I attended to on a recall basis due to Europa using
differing tube sizes.)
It seems I may have to comply with the PFA and prove none have shown
slop since fitting although I clearly understood to the contrary by my
conversation with Andy Draper.
You have all completed the slop checks on the 10 hourly requirements
presumably at great inspection expense and are therefore aware of any
slop to aircraft fitted with the clamps.
Please e-mail me immediately EITHER WAY and advise should you have
experienced such problems with the clamps fitted or continued
satisfaction with NO slop.( my e-mail address is :-
ptag.dev@tiscali.co.uk
Without this information served on a plate to the PFA I expect the
"ostrich approach" to prevail with regard to 10 hour inspections! So it
is very much in your interests to mail me urgently.
Sorry for this nuisance request.
Regards
Bob Harrison G-PTAG

Subject: | New Prop / Cooling |
Of course it's hard to tell (As the temps have dropped in Tennessee)
but I believe I've solved my cooling issues with the new Sensinich prop
It appears as though it's made a big difference. If your not going with
the warp drive then I would strongly consider this new carbon fiber
prop. Same 3000 ft same 5400 RPM's I am seeing 130KTS instead of 120 on
my tri-gear Gold Rush. At 5000 RPM's it holds 120KTS at 65 degrees
outside.
I now have another issue. Can anyone tell me the allowable CHT spread?
I'm seeing 50 to 80 degree spreads and couldn't find the limit in the
manual.
Any info would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jeff R.

Hi Paul
I will try to send you a photo of my panel that has the compass installed.
Yes , I know, when you put the compass in the panel that electrical currents
can cause problems. When I turn the power onto the panel, I get about a 1/2
degree change and I should be able to trim that out although in the day of
gps who follows a compass that close?

Oh, oh. I have evidently erased it from the disk. It is a cheepo Falcon
made in China with a 2 inch face. It is lighted. If you are interested, I
can take another photo.
