Graham, Thank you. I was thinking of 914 with no engine driven pump and the electric pump(s) pumping around a tank volume every hour or so through the regulator. A certain amount of mixing of sides would occur when the fuel level is well above the hump. Maybe different considerations for the different fuel systems? With regards to Andair gascolators I think they are a very good product. However rather than speculating their capabilities or limitations it might be worth getting Andy Phillips (producer of Andair products) to comment on any concerns. I know he operates an RV which no doubt uses one of his gascolators. I am sure he has researched his products well before designing and manufacture and would be the best person to answer questions. Hi Nigel "might be worth getting Andy Phillips (producer of Andair products) to comment on any concerns. I know he operates an RV which no doubt uses > one of his gascolators. I am sure he has researched his products well > before designing and manufacture and would be the best person to answer > questions." For what it's worth, I did exactly that prior to using two Andair 375s on 914 install. I wanted to hear from the horses mouth that it would be an acceptable practice to use a gasculator as both a water trap and fuel filter. The answer was an absolute affirmative (very nice guy and willing to answer any and all questions about his product), there is no sense in using supplied Europa Purolator filters prior to 375s. There is 1 caveat, this is speaking of the newest product which uses a pleated element that has a reasonable amount of surface area. The old style element you can see if you go to home page when the invisible bowl happens to the upper left pic. (does not thrill me as far as filter area goes). Another note in general on using parts on airplanes, when you are not in a rush, inspect all things being used like your life depends on it, like of course it does. Use very good bright lights, and magnifiers and look at things like you know there is something wrong and it is your mission in life to find it, which it is as a homebuilder, user, maintainer. I found such a problem with one of the elements of our 375s supplied by Aircraft Spruce. When looking inside the element where the pleated filter is glued together through the threaded intake, could see that some of the adhesive did not quite make it to an area that would allow larger particles than desired to get through, but more important there was some debris hardly stuck to the glue bond (this is on the inside of filter), I am certain it had potential to break loose and get swept downstream. Was replaced free of charge. Replacement was fine, and I looked at a few others of other homebuilders and they were fine, but like everything check. Off topic, but during inspection of Airmaster prop right after received, I noticed that the about 3/8" of the tip of nickel lead edge was not bonded, adhesive was missing. I was able to slip a piece of paper in there! After talking to Airmaster, then to Warp Drive they said they never heard of that, I sent a picture with up some very close ups and one had a thin piece of paper actual in it. Warp Drive repaired, very nice job, but check your stuff. You really could not see defect very easily at all in normal light with naked eyes. Andair makes very nice stuff! BTW if you want to maintain the black painted witness marks on bowl of 375 gasculator, don't wipe bowl with isopropyl alcohol. It removes paint. Ron Parigoris

    Subject: Door Latches
    From: "flyingphil2" <ptiller@lolacars.com>
Hi, I'm working my way through the fuselage build and thought I'd take a look at the doors. I notice that my kit does not contain any DL11F or DL11R push rods (or the earlier DL08F and R) that are supposed to be 10 x 5mm rectangular aluminium section. I do, however, have some aluminium rod of 10mm diameter supplied which has a part number of B1RM and the size of this looks like I could make some push rods out of it! So, does anyone know what the B1RM material is used for or whether this is supposed to be used for the door latch mechanism? If you do, is it written down anywhere as the online manual still calls for DL11F & R. I can't find any mention of B1RM in the manuals yet it is called for in the packing list. Thanks, Phil Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

Phil, BIRM 10mm is the 10 mm rod used for the pushrod construction. 3/8 inch is ok if you goof one up. When building your pushrods do not cut the flat sided pieces (the end of the rod which attaches to the DL06 shoot bolts) to the final length recommended in the instructions. Leave them as long as you can so you can adjust the bullet end to get good penetration into the fuselage, yet clear the door DL07 shoot bolt guide. It takes me about 1 hour to build all four rods and fit them, so it really isn't that bad of a job. Like most things, "you've gotta' tweak them to work like glass. All Europa Builders, I just had my distributor get a dual shipment of Epibond 420 A/B which is Araldite or as most of us know it, Redux. It is in the 2 pound can. (Yes the can of hardener or part B is a pain to pour from, so use a 1 pint vinegar bottle with a tight fitting cap to make it easier to use and store longer.) Please clean and dry the bottle though. Price is $159.00 plus ground shipping. Shipping is about $20 to the west of the Mississippi or North East and $15 in the South East. Sale is at cost plus shipping and insurance. Total of 9 kits available. Checks only please. Ground shipping only. No airmail UPS or FEDEX due to Hazardous material. If interested contact: Bud Yerly www.customflightcreations.com<http://www.customflightcreations.com/> or budyerly@msn.com<mailto:budyerly@msn.com> (813) 653-4989

    Subject: Fuel Inlet Pipe (Aluminum)
Hi Hans-Peter, That is no problem. I had 3 over and they have been snapped up quickly so I will get another run done. I will have them available soon and email you. I do them "at cost" for the builders so with postage and packaging they come to about 13 pounds. A local cheque or cash is fine. They are for the Classic with the MOD to increase the baggage bay and the XS. So they are for the fuel cap re positioned to the starboard side as per the XS. They connect to the fuel inlet plastic "cobra" and the fuel tank. It avoids fuel getting left on the rubber coupling they originally gave us, over time which then permeates fuel into the cockpit as a smell as it breaks down in time. The rubber joining pieces are not included but are small lengths of fuel resistant hosing you can buy from an auto shop with hose clips and creates a better join, to the tank especially, as the original rubber coupling has caused problems. All the best for the build, Cheers, Tim Tim Ward 12 Waiwetu Street Fendalton Christchurch. New Zealand Ph. 64 33515166 MOB 0210640221 ward.t@xtra.co.nz

912S ExhaustHi Kim, Glad to hear your still kicking! Were still busy as ever but the Europa's have slowed a bit. We have been involved with Zenith Aircraft for a couple of years with sales and quick build kits and doing builder assistance for Van's, Rans, and Jabiru's. Were also a dealer for Jabiru engines. Recently we started another company doing embroidery. What a switch that is but we had the space at our new facility and felt it was time to diversify a bit. Have you retired yet? If not, I imagine you have been quite busy lately. Regarding the exhaust system, I think it sold this morning for 750.00 but there were some other items that he wanted that I had to double check and we ended up playing a bit of phone tag. I will know tomorrow for sure and will let you know. I could not believe the current US pricing for the exhaust system is 1445.00.
