Any engine instrumentation we buy has to be compatible with the Rotax temp and pressure senders. Fred F Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=146604#146604

For any of you who have yet to deal with FWF issues, recent announcements concerning the Gemini 100/125 turbo diesel may be of interest. Two sources of information are: www.amtonline.com/publication/article.jsp?id=4434&pubId=1 http://dieselair.com/archives/2007_07_01_archive.html No response as yet to an enquiry to John at E04 as to whether the company might be considering supporting it for the Europa. Subject: Smooth Prop
    From: "Mark Burton" <markb@ordern.com>
Howdy folks, Not much happening on the list these days so here's something to ponder. Today, I went to the airfield to dynamically balance an Arplast PV50 prop fitted to a Rotax 912S on a Kitfox. Without adding any weights, it measured 0.02 IPS vibration which is an extremely good result - I thought for a 912S, absolutely outstanding. The carbs had recently been balanced by Adrian at Shobdon and they must be spot on. I was so impressed, I blagged a ride in the Kitfox to see what it was like in the air and, no kidding, if you put your hand on the instrument panel or structure, you could not feel any vibration at all - it was uncanny. The point of this story is that it is possible to achieve no perceptable prop vibration on a 912S. So, if you can feel vibration, something isn't right. Cheers, Mark Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=146675#146675

Mark That's encouraging news. imho the Arplast prop blades are very good, Not too stiff so they don't rattle like Warps do and plenty of area near the root to help cooling at low speeds. I have always wondered about residual vibration, you can never tell if it is due to some criterion that cannot be balanced out. Good to have cinfirmation that it can! From what I can see they do require their own senders but they appear to be identical in size/thread, etc.as the Rotax ones so switching them doesn't appear to pose a problem. Martin, Be aware that only numerical displays impose additional workload to the pilot. You would actually have to read the number and the brain has to process the numbers and compare them mentally. In your case, I would look for some instruments with a combined analog and digital representation in one instrument. Example is at http://www.sportflyingshop.com/Instr/Stratomaster/SmartSingles/smartsingles.html . The nice thing about digital once is that many have a monitoring feature and will ring an alarm when certain programmed levels are exceeded. You find also nicer looking once in the automotive and aviation industry if you look further. Advantage of analog representation is that you just need to have a short look at the instrument to see that all data are in the right area. Much quicker and less workload to the brain. This is exactly the reason why the digital representation in a car never took of.
