Hi, relax you have in effect shrunk the bush into the hole and made a good
engineering fit. What you need to do now is ream out the bush to the size of
the shaft that fits it. If you don't have a reamer that size use a drill bit
that mics up to the correct size. Don't use a power drill just a hand tee
bar.To check the drill size is correct do a trial on a piece of aluminium
first.

Ferg,
I have the Dynon supplied MP sensor and the Smart avionics one for
their prop controller. Both are mounted on the firewall and connected
(using Europa supplied 6mm fuel tubing & a T piece) to the MP sensing
point on the carb balance cross tube (or what ever it's called!)

Ferg, I have a slightly different combination (914 &Mark's controller) but
the same problem. I have done the same as Ivor and brought the tubing
through the firewall to mount the sensor within the cabin. One piece of
advice I would offer is to put a small inline plastic fuel filter in to
catch the gunge. Until my current panel upgrade I had the same line running
from the cross balance pipe to a standard manifold pressure gauge on the
panel. After 5 yrs the pipe had become heavily stained with what looked like
condensed nicotine and the gauge had suffered heart failure! Regards, David

Hi Ferg.
Same as Simon, but only the Dynon sensor. Saves a T-piece, a sensor and some tubing
and some weight. :-) The D180 map is a bit jumpy, too sensitive, whereas
the Smart Avionics controller has a more steady reading. Both readings do precisely
agree. The Smart Avionics controller also has a % power indication, which
seems to be pretty precise.

If you put a small restrictor in the feed to the Map sensor it will
smooth out the pulses so the Dynon can handle the fluctuation ,

Craig,
FWIW, installed one 6 months ago in two friends' plane.
The airplane has flown 85 hours since, they say they are pleased with it.
Only flew twice behind it, the last time 30 minutes this morning.
But nevertheless the impression is good. Great service from the local
dealer.
A breeze to install, really sunlight readable, lots of funtions and easy
to setup.
Easy to use on cruise or takeoff/landing.
Will report when I'll know more about the beast.
Best regards,

Charpter 13, states that CS05 is a 1 1/4 Steel tube. I've checked both my manual
and the web manual. Both show a steel tube. I didn't get a steel 1 1/4" tube,
but I do have a 1 1/4" alumimun tube. Is the manual a misprint?

Hi Ivor,
The restrictor option crossed my mind, for a very brief moment. As the CS controller,
with exactly the same input clearly shows, it is possible to smooth out
electronically. That way the sensitivity and lag are adjustable, a restrictor
is not. Maybe Mike should offer his services at Dynon, or should start making
his own EFIS/EMS.
Basically, mechanical solutions are born dead, just like the typewriter we all
once admired. Long live the sixpack :-)

Subject: | Gascolator location |
Hi! Karl
May I suggest that being next to nose gear suspension it will likely be
quite a hot place with all the heated air departing the cowling there.
Mine are mounted on the intermediate removable bulkhead which is much
further aft and indeed I have another bulkhead forward just behind the
nose wheel suspension springs which make them still more protected from
heat.
In fact G-PTAG was built as a convertible so having cut out the Mono
wheel belly I now use it as a belly plate and all the pumps and non
return valves are mounted on it with the aft 1/3rd hinged to allow it to
open with only 4 screws. At the aft end of this belly plate there is a
small door with the clip latch above which there is the water check
valves in the bottom of the gascolators.
Never had vapour problems even with the Jabiru 6 and it was all air
cooled.
Regards
Bob Harrison G-PTAG

Hi Richard,
I think it is best to avoid PTFE tape for aircraft use. It is forbidden
in the petrochemical industry. I believe there was one huge disaster
which was traced to a loose piece of PTFE lodged in a pressure control
valve.
Anyway, I recommend Hylomar Universal Blue (was PL32M), see
http://www.hylomar.com/universal_blue_4.shtml, for fuel joints and
gaskets. This has been around for a long time and was originally
developed by Rolls Royce for gas turbine use. It does not set up hard
and joints and threaded connections can be remade. A light touch only
would be needed on the fuel drain fittings. It is tough to clean up and
I find that a dab of methylene chloride on a rag will do the trick.
Also see
http://www.silmid.com/search/search2.asp?keyword=Hylomar&product_line=%25SEA%25&heading=Hylomar
and http://www.hylomar-usa.com/_resources/_html/order.html for order
details.

Hi All,
I am fitting the factory water drains to to my tank and wanted to know what is
best to seal the threads where the joints screw together? My first thoughts
are PTFE Thread tape, or a smear of Redux. Or is there something El's?
Thank You Richard Wheelwright.

Hi Richard,
You can't anodise steel tube - only aluminium can be anodised (oxide
layer)!!! Steel can be powder coated or painted.
