Subject: | Re: Mod 67 - photos and comments for you to decide |
Hi Bud,
Thanks for the pictures and nice finish to the cockpit as well. Interesting point
about the Hi-Top mod too as that part of the door frame will be about 2" higher
when finished. I think I'll have to decide when I have the top on and can
sit in it (and make aeroplane noises!).
Regards,
Phil

Subject: | Security of your aircraft |
Dear All,
Just a bit of info that aircraft owners should be aware of. In the UK last weekend,
a glider was stolen from the gliding club at Dunstable airfield. The glider
in question was an EB28 which is a nearly new, large and very impressive
(and expensive) 2 seat "super ship" glider. The trailer was found dumped 7 miles
away and the front cockpit and engine bay had literally been sawn off and
removed.
Some pictures can be found here:
http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/segelflugszene/news.html?news_jsp=olc0712#071212
It is presumed that this was done to get the engine and associated instruments
and I've heard of some similar stories with power aircraft. I've also heard that
in Germany, approximately 60 Rotax engines have been stolen from turbo and
motor gliders in the last year.
It looks like there is now a market for stolen engines, one where serial numbers
and honest inspectors will not be an issue. The common belief is that they
are going East to be put into microlights.
So, wherever you keep you aircraft just beware, this seems to be a growing problem
that has now found its way to the UK.
Phil

Subject: | uni straps at wing root |
I've almost finished (well, apart from finishing & painting, of
course) my first wing.
I've done the UNI straps on the upper surface at the root, but when I
turned it over and started marking out to do the ones on the bottom,
I found that the aft end of the UNI overlaps the W18 flap bracket.
There's no mention of this in the manual.
I assume that it just needs the end of the longest UNI ply to be slit
and fitted each side of the W18, but I thought I'd better check first
in case something more clever is needed. However, when I phoned a few
minutes ago I found the factory has already gone off for the weekend.
Has anyone else got any factory advice about this?
regards
Rowland
