Subject: FW: Hunt the Dongle for the 914
P L E A S E ----- P L E A SE ----- P L E A S E help to find the dongle for the 914. Early 914 engines (up to 441 7848) need a dongle to allow a PC to talk to the turbo control unit. Later engines do not need it. This is necessary to allow the throttle to be correctly set etc. If you have an early 914 engines you will need the dongle rarely but it is essential when you do need it. One of Club members need the use of a dongle urgently. In the past, Europa maintained a dongle for hire (against a security deposit). Unfortunately this has gone missing about the time of the EML collapse. To make matters worse it now appears that the Dongle (Monitoring Set Part No. 966 670) can no longer be purchased. If someone is hanging on to the Europa dongle, on the basis that they will never get the deposit back from EML, please consider selling it on the Club so that it can be made available to all via the tool loan scheme. So please 1) If you are a 914 owner check that it is not left on a shelf some were, 2) If you know a 914 owner, who may not monitor this form, please ask them to do the same. 3) If you have a privately owned Dongle please consider either selling it on to the Club or running a private loan scheme to help your fellow Europa owners. Hi all, Well thanks to the gracious offer from Tony I have resurrected my WEB site at: www.europa.net.nz/363/index.html Just as an FYI, this site uses some Internet Explorer extensions that gives a "Mouse over" summary for the contents of each month. For example, if you expand the link on the left pane for the year and mouse over the month it gives a little summary of the months log. Unfortunately this doesn't work with FireFox My son had reworked the site in 2005 and he put a bunch of Java script along with embedded links to the WEB server that the last WEB host had. Unfortunately I am not much of a whiz when it comes to Java, so there may be bugs in the site. If you do find any please let me know and I'll have a crack at fixing them. Paul
