Having finally completed Mod 72, and drained, or at least spilled the Evans NPG in the process, I am going to switch to standard coolant. I've drained the system as best I can, and flushed the Rad, but I would imagine there is some Evans still in there. Anyone know if there will be any compatability problems ? Dave A061

Hi Dave, Although do not know the answer to your question I have just been through the same exercise myself. What I did was a "messy & wasteful" approach where I flushed through two gallons of fresh water / coolant mix then filled the system. I can't imagine that there is any residual Evans left after doing that. I must admit that despite my best effort with trays and buckets under the engine there was still quite a mess on the hanger floor. Paul

Hi Paul and Karl, I had trays and towels on hand, but still managed to spill it on the floor and over me. The only place I can think that the Evans will still be, is in the water pump housing. I switched because I can't get Evans locally, and if ever I got a leak while away from home, I would not be able to repair and re-fill. On another note: Woodcomp provided me with a new gearbox and motor at no charge. I note that the gearbox cover screws are now larger, and are keyed to stop them coming loose. The repair was beyond me, so I've sent it to Pavel Novak in B.C. to fix. One nice surprise, Canada post only charged $45 to send it, a much better deal than sending a letter to the U.S. or U.K. Dave On 13-Jan-08, at 12:38 PM, Karl Heindl wrote: > Hi, > > Can you guys enlighten us please as to why you switched back to > regular coolant, especially as you didn't have any coolant problems > apparently ? > > Karl > > > <html><div></div> > > > To: europa-list@matronics.com > > From: loboloda@execulink.com > > Subject: Europa-List: Coolant compatability > > Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2008 10:31:06 -0500 > > > <loboloda@execulink.com> > > > > Having finally completed Mod 72, and drained, or at least spilled > the > > Evans NPG in the process, > > I am going to switch to standard coolant. > > I've drained the system as best I can, and flushed the Rad, but I > > would imagine there is some Evans > > still in there. > > Anyone know if there will be any compatability problems ? > > > > Dave A061 > > &g================= > > > > > > > >

Sure, the Evans stuff ran my CHT and Oil temperatures 10 ~ 15f degrees hotter. While this generally wasn't a problem I ran into issues doing extented climbs or long taxi runs. I was replacing hoses so I took the oportunity to change it out. Paul
