Dear Europaphiles,
Some of you may remember John Hurst who ran the Florida sales office for
Europa in the days before the bankruptcy problems. If you go to the
current AVweb issue at
http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archives/avflash/1037-full.html#196989 and
scroll down to "Flight Design Introduces CTLS" you will see him doing a
brief You Tube presentation for the Flight Design CTLS.
Cheers, John

Subject: | Silencer position in cowl |
Hello all,
The silencer (muffler) on my XS / 912 uls (the new oval section
silencer) sits forward of the moulded recess in the cowl. The front of
the silencer is touching the cowl on the outboard side, forward of the
recess. The straight outlet pipe from the silencer would exit several cm
above the moulded recess. The silencer could not move any further back,
as it has only a few mm clearance from the bottom attachment of the ring
mount. Photo attached.
I presume this is a result of having the oval section silencer instead
of the round section one. Have others had this problem, and if so what
have you done?
Keith Hickling,
New Zealand.

Hi Keith,
I had the same problem. I was at Flight Creations, me and Bud looked at it, scratched
our collective heads, and tried to make it fit. It didn't. After a couple
of minutes of that, took out the old maniac wheel and cut a hole where the
silencer hit. A plug of foam, some glass and all was well.
