Subject: | filling in flap closeouts |
I seem to recall someone on here suggesting that filling in the ends of the
flap closeouts was a bad idea, as it can cause
exhaust fumes to enter the cabin. Something to do with the turbulence around
the unfilled closeout preventing, or at least reducing
exhaust entry through the flap drive slots. Does anyone have any actual
experience of this occuring??
regards
craig

After engine testing on the trailer, after the winter stop, i reversed the plane
into the garage. Forgot that the port door was still open, so that's broken
now. Worse of all, nobody else then me to blame.
Now, the question: Does somebody on this continent (Europe) have enough of the
factory supplied Sikkens top coat left to do a door? Primer, hardener and thinner
i still have.

Jos,
Very sorry to hear of your mishap. I wasn't aware that the factory
supplied Sikkens top coat to builders/customers. Can you elaborate and
describe how you intend to use it, assuming you can locate some?
Fred

Hi Fred,
Yes, this top coat is part of the set of primer, hardener and thinner that the
factory used to supply. I have been informed in the mean time, that there has
been a change of supplier. Sikkens is also wrong, another mistake. Good that i
am not flying today! It is not my day.
It is Akzo Nobel top-coat that i was after. Nev has some, and will be helping me
out once more. He might even have some port door brown plexi. The factory only
has gray in stock or blank to order.
How i will use it? According to the instructions i hope :-) The idea is to repair
the frame, sand away the remaining redux, make to new plexi to fit and then:
Filling and sanding again. Then i have learned how to use a mini spray gun,
ideal for small surfaces. Back in the air real soon now :-)

Subject: | Drawings or pictures of Outrigger Assembly |
Hello Europa List,
Well I found exploded views on the Europa website. My instructions don't have
the documentation. With this in mind we assembled the outrigger for one wing
and come to find out we have two different pairs of OR4, one set is very chunky
looking and the other set looks quite refined and might be a later revision?
The funny thing is the exploded view show the "clunkier" part and we used
it and low and behold the outrigger will not full extend, it seem as if the OR4
we used is bumping into the bottom wing skin.
I just don't know at this point, because I am running into some "extra" parts that
are probably upgrades. I guess that is what you get when you take over a
kit that is quite a few years older and has been picked over by the former builder;
No big deal it will all work out in the end.
Any ideas?

Subject: | Almost new Rotax Tachometer for Sale |
Hi Folks,
I guess I should have mentioned that I also have a standard Rotax Tacho
available for sale.
This is the standard Aviasport Tacho for use with the Rotax 912 or 914,
the nice one with the lower (orange), Normal (green) and Upper (red)
limit arcs painted on the dial (supplied by Leading Edge Airfoils) which
I purchased less than a year ago when my original one started acting up.
New they are around $120. I'd take $75 plus shipping.
Contact me off line if you are interested.
Regards,
Martin Tuck
