The attached is the Club door lock Standard mod. It has been with the LAA for two years for approval as a standard mod but they have yet to get round to it. It has been flying on my aircraft for some 3 years. The intention was to publish it when approved as standard. Hi, Does anyone know where the Europa Club 16.5mm hand reamer is for doing the Mod 72 job? I'd like to join the queue to borrow it. Thanks, Phil Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

Ferg, Lockwood also has designed a hose tee which they sell with a VDO temp transducer for about $45. It belongs spliced inbetween the expansion tank and the radiation, close as reasonably possible to the expansion tank -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=166717#166717

Ferg, Although I have a 912S, not the 914, I guess there is no difference between the two on this particular issue. I have a hose T and VDO temp. transducer supplied by the UK Rotax dealer Skydrive. Contrary to the Lockwood T that Ira mentions, this is fitted in the hose between cylinder No. 3 (aft right side) which normally is the hottest one (at least on 912S) and the expansion tank on top of the engine. The reason for this is that while a common system problem (e.g. with the cooling in the radiator or the pump or a leakage) will be detected also by measuring the temperature in the expansion tank or in the return hose to the radiator, some other reason for overheating of cylinders will not be quickly detected by measuring the temperature in the common, mixed coolant coming from all the cylinders. To be on the safe side, one should therefore measure the coolant temperature between all the cylinders and the expansion tank. A practical approach, applied by Skydrive, is to measure the coolant temp. only after cyl. 3. This corresponds with the philosophy of Rotax for their factory supplied engine monitoring, which measures the cylinder head temperature only of cyl. no.3, the normally hottest one. I have connected the temp. sensor to an available input channel in my GRT engine monitoring system (excellent piece of equipment). We have three. While I normally manage the Club tools, Peter Jeffers has managed these. E-mail him on inspector@europaclub.org.uk Ian Rickard #505 G-IANI XS Trigear Europa Club Mods Rep (Trigear) e-mail mods@europaclub.org.uk or direct g-iani@ntlworld.com
