Subject: | Locking Spade Connectors |
Hi Folks,
I'm rewiring my panel a little to make it easier to pull for maintenance.
I'm looking for the part number or a source for those spade connectors that
slide onto the spades of the Rotax (Ducati) regulator. I'm specifically looking
for the ones that lock into the plastic housing (which holds all five or six
connectors and then locks itself onto the regulator). I can find regular 1/4
in spade connectors but they don't lock into the housing and thus are very
difficult to push on as the contacts are up inside the regulator some.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards,
Martin Tuck

Hi all,
Some time ago I saw a reference to a"Soft start" ignition system for
9xx's. I seem to recall it was some system where you start on one mag
with a different timing setting and once the engine starts you turn on
the second mag.
Is there anyone out there who could enlighten me more on this ?
Thanks, Paul

It is made and supplied by Conair a division of Skydrive in the UK.
I have one fitted to my Europa which is a Classic with a 912S which means I
am restricted to the original standard 912 starter which is of lower power
than the S starter.
I ran for 2 years with the standard setup and consistently had problems
starting in the winter. Summer was fine but winter was a real nigtmare.
Since fitting the Soft Start it always starts straight away.

Martin,
I don't have the part numbers, but McMaster-Carr has everything you
need, with male/female connectors and housings which will accommodate
anywhere from 4 to 16 wires, each...

Folks,
One more question. I don't really have a starting problem, but once
in a great while mine will kick back. Does the Soft start product fix
this ?
Thanks, Paul

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the suggestion of McMaster Carr, I found the quick-disconnect
terminals on pages 734 and 735 but like similar ones I have they do not
'latch' into the plastic housing (to stop them being pushed out when you
install the plug on the regulator) - unless I missed them.
Any other pointers would be appreciated.
Regards,
Martin

Martin, all of mine lock in, just fine. Let me dig a little. I think
I have a few left over...
