Those of you equipped with the Icom IC A200 transceiver may be interested i n the following.... ICOM UK confirmed to me today that the IC A200 appears NOT to be compatible with offset carrier ground stations. This was confirmed after recent test s conducted by the CAA. This would explain my experience of an increasing number of LARS / commerci al airport ground stations transmissions being missed by my A200. My trans missions are being recieved however (as confirmed by an aircraft relaying m essages). Anyone else had similar problems? Sean O'Reilly Reigate, UK

Hi all Is a standard mod number available or can I quote anyone who has fit ted the Conair Sports soft start module as discussed a few weeks ago? For when I apply to the LAA for approval to fit one. Thanks in anticipation . I asked Andy Draper a couple of weeks ago about a standard mod number a couple of weeks ago - I'm afraid that there isn't one. You need to apply on an individual basis. I think that the LAA have had a good look at the module from a technical view point so with a bit of luck, it shouldn't be too painful - maybe Mark Burton will be able to tell you more. Sorry, I don't know anything about the LAA's thoughts/policy re the SSM. If anyone knows, it will be Conrad. Cheers, Mark Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=171081#171081

    Subject: GRT EIS Question
Hi Folks, I finally flew with my newly installed Grand Rapids Model 2000 EIS. All in all I like it - certainly a lot more info to interpret than I had before (with needle position would show if anything was out of normal). I am sure I will get used to it. A few questions for those who have installed one also. On initial power up the red light flashes and the oil pressure flashes (not surprising as the engine is not yet started). Selection of 'Ack' acknowleges the red light which remians on. Engine starts up - but the red light stays on throughout the flight with no further warnings or indication what might be the problem. Any ideas why it is staying on? I need to put in a VDO fuel pressure sensor as the system won't work with my Mitchell one so the fuel pressure is wired but just reading zero. Both Aux1 upper and lower limits are zero so I don't that is what is causing the red light problem. I do not have a manifold pressure sensor so have not wired that. CHT2 (right rear cylinder) reads 60 deg F (ambient today) but never gets above 80 deg F even though CHT1 (front left cylinder) seems to be reading normally at around 175 deg F (from memory). Both EGT's are behaving as expected. I will have to check my crimps as I suspect a dodgy connection for that one. Any clues or things to check out would be appreciated.
