Do not worry that the 26 March date has passed - if you wish to attend, but have not yet let me know, please contact me soonest. I have the following UK aircraft on the list - if yours is not shown, I have not heard from you: G-BZNY, DDBD, LINN, IANI, SHSH, CBYN, FIZY, BWON, MIME, CEIW, PTAG, ZTED, BVVP, EOFS, KIMM, BXLK, BWWB, XSDJ, BXCG, SMDH? (S Pitt), BZAM, BXIJ, and Dave Buzz. And - from Europe - Karel Vrancken. Anyone coming by road? - I need to know, for the caterers, please! Do not forget - there will be a brief (!) Europa Club committee meeting that day - see the Chairman's e-mail! A briefing doc will be sent out by e-mail w/c 21 April. David _____ From: David.Corbett [mailto:david.corbett5@btinternet.com] Sent: 05 March 2008 09:26 Cc: Aero Club Subject: A Fly-in in memory of William and Paul "A Fly-in in memory of William and Paul. "Throughout the Europa community there was enormous respect for William Mills and Paul Sweeting, who were both so sadly killed in a Europa accident in June 2007. Bryan Alsop and Paddy Clarke have suggested that the Club should arrange a "DOTH" in memory of William and Paul, and Shobdon Airfield - so near to both William and Paul's homes - has offered to host this event. "By tradition, a DOTH is a meeting of Europa owners/aircraft at an airfield, chosen at short notice (24 or at most 48 hours), when suitable weather is forecast. However, we feel that a DOTH in these circumstances would not be fair on our Europa community, some of whom may wish to attend from a considerable distance. Therefore, we have identified 2 Sundays at the end of April/beginning of May (April 27 and May 4) on one of which we will hold the event. We will go for the first of those 2 Sundays - 27 April - but if, 3 or 4 days in advance, the Met men advise postponement, we will change to the second date. "Apart from giving people early warning of the dates, the purpose of this advanced notice is to try to gauge the likely numbers of the Europa community who may wish to attend. Because William - and indeed Paul, himself a Herefordshire Aero Club (Shobdon) member - were so universally well respected, we feel that many of their Europa friends may wish to come. If as the Shobdon representative I can have some idea of the numbers, we at Shobdon will know how big the fly-in might be - and we will be able to organise accordingly. The Shobdon management has said that there will be no landing fees, but visitors will be invited to make a worthwhile donation to a charity which will be named when detailed instructions are sent out. "Can I therefore please ask all those who would hope to attend to send me an e-mail off forum - with "William's fly-in" in the subject box (this is important because my system puts e-mails with unknown sender addresses into the spam box) - by Tuesday 26 March; this does not commit you in any way! In your e-mail, please state aircraft registration and number(s) on board. Once we have a feel for the numbers, we will issue a more detailed plan for the day. If you know of any of William's Europa friends who do not watch this forum but who may wish to attend, could you please forward this message to them. And - this is not confined to UK Europa friends! "We look forward to hearing from you, "David - on behalf of Bryan, Paddy and Shobdon" ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 11:45:09 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: a couple milestones...not millstones! From: Fred Klein Hello All, Happy to announce that w/ my mono-LG in the retract position w/ fuselage in cradle, top all clecoed on, I now have wings (trial mount) in place...it's beginning to look like an airplane. I've also been introduced to the subtlety and nuance of alignment and pip pins; I take my hat off to those who have mastered solo setups from a trailer before every flight! BTW, I've trial fitted my mono-LG and have it blocked in the retract position w/ the bottom of the swing arm flush w/ underside of fuselage and the top of the 8.00 x 6 tire just kissing the brake cylinder. With the retraction lever all the way forward and locked in the gate, the wing arm sags a bit when I remove the blocking though there is no movement of the lever; is this normal? I have not yet installed the bungee cord; will the bungee cure this sagging? I'l look at the updated manual (for this and every step hereon!) I'm just not so sure how I'll get on without either of my pinkies and not sure if the popsicle sticks will work for more than one flying season... :-) Good feedback. Thanks Gents. Perhaps I saw that McMaster sells?? If you or anyone has experience with this technology, please share with group and what thoughts are for Rotax application in Europa. Is this what the conference is on? I have to move the two forward coolant lines, starboard side to accommodate the SD20 alternator and hope these satisfy the need........ Did you do this? I didn't yet do final install of 914. When I had it hung temporary, I ordered clamps I thought I would need. Will use spring band clamps on all coolant connections. I can't remember exactly which clamps I got from McMaster, but they I think only carry the very wide ones, and they also were missing exact size I needed for some. I too ordered the pliers, very good investment. Best wear goggles when doing install, if one ever failed or slipped out of pliers it has easy potential of blinding you. I fooled with other than purpose built pliers, far more dangerous. I supplemented McMaster clamps with Rotor clip order.
