Subject: | Rotamax Engines? |
Has anyone looked at the new Rotamax engines?
They appear to be comparable in weight and power to the Rotax, at a
significantly lower price.
These are not the old Mazda rotaries. It is all aluminum with dual
ignition and fuel injection.

Hi Andrew,
I have had several tel. conversations w/ these folks after reviewing
their websites.
I'll be in Ohio next week and plan to stop by their shop and poke
around on Mon. or Tuesday. I'll share any info or sense of their ops I
get. The Rotomax fuel consumption is not territic, but they say they'll
be tweaking their controller to allow use of JetA.
I'd love to see that engine spooling up a direct drive ducted fan in an
aircraft designed around that notion...could be the "peoples' jet"!
I'm looking also at the Gemini 100/125 and the UL260i.
Cheers,
Fred
PS: How's your build coming?...Haven't heard from you for quite some
time...

Andrew,
I have been watching this company since I saw the engine run at
Sun-N-Fun. Very cool!! I'm still waiting for it to be flying on
anything new. Like most start up engine manufactures these things take
time but the smoothness and extra power of these engines would be
fantastic on the Europa air frame. Not to mention the price, the
claimed TBO, and the claimed cost of the TBO. Right now the web site is
the same with no new news since Sun-N-Fun but they definitely have my
interest.
