It starts on 3rd September for five days. Please contact me if you are interested. Builders are particularly welcome! Unfortunately it's pretty clear that it is a wiring problem. However the RGV Avionics guys return from holiday tomorrow and I have time if necessary to rewire the whole thing! Unfortunately it's pretty clear that the problem lies in the wiring. However, am optimistic will have it sorted tomorrow. I replaced the regulator and the problem never happened again. I have added ram air cooling too. 400 hours flown since replacement of the regulator. Regards Remi F-PGKL A couple of times, we've noticed that the volt gauge goes into the red - exceeding 16 volts. Is this a sign that the regulator is on its last legs? If not, anyone got any other ideas?? I think our original one has done about 300hrs (though its taken over 10 years to get there as it sat in someones hangar for about 7 years) - Regulator is currently on top of the Pax footwell - I may add a heatsink or scat hose to cool it. Thanks again for your comments Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: Remi Guerner To: Europa-List Digest Server Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2008 4:53 PM Subject: Europa-List: excess volts Peter, I had exactly the same problem a few years ago: voltage going up to 16 volts for a few minutes and then going back to normal for hours. We have a voltage gauge on the Dynon which although reading less than that indicated on the analogue gauge, did indicate 15 odd volts. The excess voltage seemed to be proportional to the engine RPM. Have borrowed a regulator and after fitting, the problem seems to have gone. Regulator has done something like 300hrs so I guess its done more hours than many.
