Subject: | List Fund Raiser |
A couple of years ago I implemented an automatic "squelch button" of sorts for
the Fund Raiser messages. Here's how it works... As soon as a List member makes
a
Contribution through the Matronics Fund Raiser web site, he or she will instantly
cease to receive these Fund Raiser messages for the rest of the month! Its
just that simple. Don't you wish PBS worked that way! :-)
I really do appreciate each and every one of your individual Contributions to support
the Lists. It is your support that enables me to upgrade the hardware
and
software that are required to run a List Site like this. It also goes to pay for
the commercial-grade Internet connection and to pay the huge electric bill
to
keep the computer gear running and the air conditioner powered on. I run all of
the Matronics Email List and Forums sites here locally which allows me to
control and monitor every aspect of the system for the utmost in reliably and performance.
Your personal Contribution matters because, when combined with other Listers such
as yourself, it pays the bills to keep this site up and running. I accept
exactly ZERO advertising dollars for the Matronics Lists sites. I can't stand
the pop-up ads and all other commercials that are so prevalent on the Internet
these days and I particularly don't want to have it on my Email List sites.
If you appreciate the ad-free, grass-roots, down-home feel of the Matronics Email
Lists, please make a Contribution to keep it that way!!

Thank you!

[Note that there are certain circumstances where you might still see a Contribution
related message. For example, if someone replies to one of the messages,
when using the List Browse feature, or when accessing List message via the Forum.
The system keys on the given email address and since most of these are
anonymous public access methods, there is no simple way to filter them.]

Good day all,
I just came from my Flight Physical and since I have a real old flying
doctor, we chatted over my build. When I brought up having to find someone to
paint my bird or go out and learn to do it myself...and buy the equipment....he
stated that he and friends that have built 6 planes over the past 10
years....from Long EZ's to RV's....that they never painted their planes until
after
they flew off their 40 hours of test flying! This came as a surprise to
me.....how about to you folks? Pros and Cons would be a big help in the upcoming
discussion.

Hi Mike,
We decided not to fly until painted for the following reasons;
1) the color must be white to keep from getting too hot. One plane we
know of had light grey primer on a control surface that warped in the
sun.
2) even with white primer, the primer is usually more porous than paint,
and may get impregnated with engine oils, bug juice, etc, that may cause
problems later on when you do paint.
just my two cents worth,
Terry Seaver

Mike,
If you crash in the first 40 hours then you would have saved the paint
costs.

hard to say, I thought about it, that way if u need to make any changes you
wont wreck your paint job, but to know you still
haven't finished when you do your test flights would bug me I think, also
what damage will you do to the structure due to UV
unless you plan on doing your 40 hours at night : )

I've been flying in primer for quite a few years.- One less worry about m
essing up the paint when the seemingly never ending work/mods happen.- St
ill only have 25 hours on the plane- trying to find the time and money to g
et back out to Phoenix to continue the rest of the hours

Craig,
Did you sort out the problem you had with setting the W26 blocks on your wings
been to far starboard? If so what did you do? I have the same problem.
Thank You.

Greg - thanks for your kind words. Some have been less complimentary
in their choice of phrase; I got "pernickity" twice at a
team-building event when folk were asked to pick one adjective for
each participant. I take comfort, though, from the fact that none of
them ever complained about me being pernickity when I was
pre-flighting an aircraft they were shortly to be a passenger in!
Attached as PDF is another way to look at the list of parts, courtesy
of FileMaker Pro (where I make most of my lists), showing what
connects to most of the parts. I find doing this sort of list helps
to highlight any inconsistencies in my planning.
The parts at the top without AN prefixes are from Speedflow, a UK
supplier of race car plumbing parts.
regards
Rowland

Not ever! :)#)

I've got it in the print queue. Thanks.

We have a similar supplier here in Portland, OR. I may have to cross
