Worked with my one. Just earth the base of the unit. These are good subjects to link as concentrating on IFR flying with a full bladder is 10x harder than when VFR. I used to use a "Littlejohn" in the PA 28 but the seat angle and cockpit size of the Europa makes this impractical... Anyway guys, I heard a rumour that our glider pilot brothers use a kind of exterior catheter device (designed for incontinent men) to enable them to do in-flight defuelling. Leaving aside the toilet humour associated with this, does anyone know anything about this? Sorry. I have found that any Integrated Circuit device in an instrument panel running near the coax antenna cables or your com leads is suspect. I learned my lessons with the Blue Mountain and the early video display EFIS units. Those of us who have chased noise before have learned to do the following: Shield any com wire or com component completely with the shields of all com leads grounded together at the radio exactly as the manufacturer calls for. Those convenient grounds for Com Low or PTT can cause trouble. Do not run any component with a voltage regulator or IC circuit or their in/outputs parallel with com wires or radio back without shielding or ample separation. That includes the Airmaster controller. I would suspect the power/ground wires may be near a com lead. You may need to shield the power wires but I doubt it. Try a simple shield ground to the case on an Airmaster controller as a start. That will tell you who the culprit is and may even do the trick. I've never had the Airmaster cause noise I could hear, but I've always practiced the above. Check that you haven't re-arranged other wires when installing the Airmaster controller which would make a here to for unknown problem rear its head. Good Luck, You'll enjoy the prop. From: "rampil" Believe it or not, it is called a "Texas" catheter, as opposed to the indwelling "Foley" catheter. Available at your local pharmacy. I don't imagine it requires a physician's prescription to purchase. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=216470#216470 ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 04:36:34 PM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Re: Use of Ferrite Cores & RFI From: "rampil" Do you still have RFI when you pull the breaker on the Prop Control? Do you have noise when the engine is off? Do you have noise when the prop is changing pitch? Respectively these circumstances could implicate the control box, the brush plate, or the pitch motor. If you really want diagnostic help, then it would be helpful to provide a useful amount of information. Bud: Ferrite beads and cores have been tremendously oversold as a panacea, but for specific applications and circumstances they are champs. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=216473#216473 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message europa-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Europa-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/europa-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/europa-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
