I am fitting a GTX 328 Transponder as part of my Instrument panel refit.

I noted earlier reports that the 328 was too deep for the Europa Instrument
panel, this may be aircraft specific but it certainly will fit in GJULZ.

My previous transponder was the Apollo SL70 which is actually a deeper
installation than the Garmin. One problem I have found is that the Garmin
installation tube is very slightly wider than the SL70 one. This is because
of the way the tube is overlapped at the sides during construction.

A little gentle persuasion required methinks.......

      Regards,

      Mike

      Dear Europaphiles,
During the month of october I received a lettre from the Belgian Federal
Police notifying me that for the exit or entrance in the Shengen
Countries we need to use one of the six recognised aerports in Belgium:
Brussels, Antwerp, Li=E8ge, Charleroi, Ostend and Kortrijk. Offenders
      shall be fined....etc.
Last time I was in England I coasted in at Lydd. There was nobody in the
office nor police nor customs. The other times before I never saw the
customs in Popham, Dunkeswell or Welshpool even when I asked for,
several hours in advance with the adequate form.
I never refuse a control from whatever authority, if they ask me. But
why have I to pay and tell them what I will do with my small aircraft?
Is this European freedom? Why were we upset in Arad (Roumania) or Forli
      (Italia) with this officialdom?
To avoid the cost for 4 extra landings (Lydd 15=A3 and Kortrijk 23 Euro)
or approximately 92 Euro for a one day trip to England, I suggested that
they could attach an electronic stamp to my ankle like is done for
prisonners in conditional liberty. They said that is only for light
      criminals! (Joke)
      Best regards,

This is good to know as I would prefer to use the Garmin transponder but
had been put off as its quoted depth was more than my Apollo SL40 which
is a close fit to the firewall. I would be interested to know the depth
measurement from the outside face of your panel to the firewall so I can
see if I can also fit the Garmin 328.

      Regards

      Hi! Karel.
This =93smacks=94 of the imposition of a =93Terminal Navigation
      Charge=94 which
the Tempelhof =93zeigheil=94 are just demanding from me! Unless there
      is
something you really want to do (like demonstrate outside the European
Parliament!) or see in Belgium I guess the way round it is NOT to visit
the damn place! But if you are based there I guess you are =93between a
      rock and a hard place=94!
In the meantime wake up to the real world of undemocratic European
      Union Militia State Dictatorship Population
Control like the rest of the public need to get used to! Then start to
      do something about it.(NO JOKE!)

OTH it might be better than the government run police state we are
rapidly approaching. Our MPs are little more than apologists for
permanent professional politicians who never did anything useful in the
real world. I struggle to see which is the lesser evil!
      Graham.
