So how about a DOTH to Turweston tomorrow Saturday 6th.?. Voucher is in Flyer - and they say you need to call them for PPR and a slot, but it seems there is no problem, there are plenty available. There is a new cafe and it should be open - 1200ish as usual. Maybe we could persuade a few Europa ladies to come! Hi Bob Karel's problems have nothing to do with European Union regulations. They are due entirely to the fact that, unlike nearly all the other EU countires , the UK has not signed up to the Schengen agreement, which eliminates passpo rt control between participating countries. Belgian regulations therefore requ ire Karel to depart from an airfield with passport control when he wants to go to the UK. If you could concentrate your considerable political energies on persuading the UK government to sign up to the Schengen deal then Karel could fly from any airfield in Belgium to any airfield in the UK by just filing a flight plan. UK based pilots would enjoy similar benefits in that they would no lo nger have to land at an airfield with customs when flying to mainland Europe. I am fitting a GTX 328 Transponder as part of my Instrument panel refit. I noted earlier reports that the 328 was too deep for the Europa Instrument panel,? this may be aircraft specific but it certainly will fit in GJULZ. My previous transponder was the Apollo SL70 which is actually a deeper installation than the Garmin.? One problem I have found is that the Garmin installation tube is very slightly wider than the SL70 one.? This is because of the way the tube is overlapped at the sides during construction. A little gentle persuasion required methinks....... ? Regards, ? Mike ? ? ? ?????? -- Please Support Your Lists This Month -- ?????????? (And Get Some AWESOME FREE Gifts!) ? Nigel and all, The distance from the front right face of the instrument panel on G-JULZ is in the region of 308mm. >From the front face of the instrument panel to the deepest part of the 328 (back of the coax plug) is 300mm. My instrument panel fits straight to the bulkhead, I don't have any spacers. The SL30 uses all the space available... you might be able to fit a cigarette paper between the coax plug and the bulkhead - not much more. A point worth of note is that the deepest part of the 328 is on the right side, which is where the coax plug is. Because the radio stack part of the Europa instrument panel is inclined towards the pilot, the depth available for any radio equipment is greater on the right side than the left. This is different to the SL70, where the coax plug was on the left. Hope this is of some help. See attached photos.
