I think it may be time to start planning a good old fashion "Engineering" meeting of the sort familiar to generations of Flight Crafters and Custom Flight Creations alumni! Of course all are welcome. Europa is planning a big presence at SnF this year. I don't yet know their schedule for events, but I'd like to invite Dave Stanbridge to the party, er meeting. Anyone else planning to go this year? I ordered 2 Spring Plungers (devices incorporating spring-loaded ball-bearings for applying pressure) online using both a Canadian VISA and billing address and a U.S. shipping address - all in the 'open' and repeatedly in the past without a problem. I received a thanks for ordering and the usual accessories, such as details and tracking info, within the hour. However, the following morning brought a message stating that they were unable to ship the order due to security regulations, and apologized. Obviously the Homeland Security department sensed that I would use the tiny items to put pressure on our long common border in an attempted land grab. This in my mind has put them squarely in the ranks of the Vancouver RCMP detachment in response to "alien" incursions. It also occurred to me that the spring plungers were made in Korea, China or Taiwan, thus adding another worrying aspect to the crime. In any event, I hope this clarifies my futile moves and may revise yours. It started leaking oil at 650 hours and now at 850 hours it just making too much of a smelly mess. Its in at LEAF and they will have to split the case to inspect and re seal it.. Anyhow, I am going to be traveling for the next month so it is unlikely to be together in time for Sun ' N fun, so please have a beer and an ogle for me at Hooters. I hope the inspection results are not too painful! I'll try to report back on the latest observed stress and strain figures from the engineering meeting to you. 8) I don't think I'll Europa down to SnF myself as I did not care for the lack of mowing or the lack of crowd control at the fight line in the past three or so years. Commercial to Tampa works well for me. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=229128#229128 ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 05:53:01 PM PST US Subject: Europa-List: How to best route wires to wing From: rparigor@suffolk.lib.ny.us I need to get the following plumbed to my short (XS Monowheel) wings: PORT: Pitot Static AOA Position LEDs Strobe roll servo Landing LED STARBOARD: Factory stall warner tube Position LED Strobe Taxi LED What location has been used with success? I have a conduit in center of ribs aft of spar to run all of the above. Considering the following: ****Using Europas recommended entry just forward of fuse spar hole near top (this means stuff needs to be routed above spar ****Routing some stuff below fuse spar hole, and being very careful drill a hole just aft of spar hole near bottom sneaking between fuel tank and aileron bracket (this will have stuff aft of spar) ****Entering just aft and above rear lift pin (This will require drilling a hole close to the all too crucial rear lift pin layup) Any other input is most welcomed. Thx. Given the space above the spar provided by the wing root fairing, why would you not go w/ the recommendation in the manual? Seems straightforward enough...at least to this guy, Fred A194 -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 11:19:14 PM PST US From: Keith Hickling Subject: Re: Europa-List: How to best route wires to wing Ron, I ran the wiring for combined nav lights and strobes through behind the spar hole and between the fuse and fuel tank to the strobe driver in the back. But it was very difficult to pull it through, and I was quite nervous drilling the hole. There is only about 6 mm of space - just enough for the wire bundle. If I was doing it again I think I'd go with the easy and trouble-free route over the spar and in in front of the spar hole. I took the pitot and static and AOA through in front of the spar hole. Easy.
