Hi Troy,
You are good to go on the dot-5. Sounds like your starting to see the
light at the end of the tunnel. Any chance you'll be doing some lose
formation flying at Rough River this year? ;o)

I suggest you have a look for LiFePo batteries, some one had a link for them
here
a few months ago. the size and performance is quite a bit better than LiPo.
If memory
serves a 14v battery weighed in at about a pound and was good for about
150amp draw
so you could use it to start your A/C a bit of quick hunting I found AA size
cells 3.2 volts
at 10Ah capacity.

Hi All,
I am trying to determine the battery technology. Unless I am missing it,
I can't find it stated. Can anyone else ?
I did find a light weight battery for the race car fraternity that was Li
Ion, that was 4 pounds at around 16 a/h capacity, but I have lost the URL.
The Li Ion tehnology brings with it different problems. I saw a very
impressive video demonstrating a nail piercing a set of cells, the result
was explosive to say the least.
Anyhow, if anyone tumbles over the URL please forward it on to me.
Cheers, Paul

If anyone is interested in upgrading their aircraft from 80HP to 100HP,
I have available, a 912S engine with 65 hours from new, and am looking
for a 912UL engine with reasonably low hours.
I am looking to do a deal , with or without labour costs included.
Anyone interested, please email me off list, or contact through the LAA
inspectors list.

Hi Glen
I Googled for the RAM Engine's WEB site but didn't get a hit. Do you happen
to have a URL ? I was curious how much it weighed.

Hi Glenn,
I found the all up weight as 176 pounds wet. This is getting close to the
912S at 140 pounds wet at 160 for the 914.
The ram engine numbers weight are impressive. Although there are many other
parameters to be considered, at least this is starting to take the weight
argument off the table.

Hey Paul - the RAM install with my fixed pitch Catto prop seems to weigh in
about the same as a lot of 914's with C/S prop.
I weigh in at 930 lbs but I've got a number of weight saving projects to do
. I'm using a steel flywheel when I could go
to Alu=2C my exhaust system is made from .049 wall 304 SS when it could hav
e been .035=2C my motor mount could support
an Allison T56 according to some people=2C valve covers are heavy steel cou
ld easily be fiberglass=2C etc=2C etc.
Hoping to upgrade to a roller cam/rocker setup and MPFI at some point.

Hi! Richard
If you do a bottom vent pipe exit (say out one of the flap control hinge
slots in the floor you need an anti-siphon collector bottle in the top
of the fuselage roof which can empty back into the tank with the vent
continuing out of the bottle in a higher mode.
Sorry no pictures available.

Bob Harrison G-PTAG Trike.

I did mine the way Paul McAlister showed on his build web-site. Simple and
works very well. The "anti-siphon" fitting goes in the fuel filler neck. The
3/8" aluminum tubing vents well while filling the fuel. Thanks Paul!
