Hi Ferg I fitted the cable then trimmed of the surplus, it still leaves you adjustment at the turbo end, for when the cable stretches, I also fitted a Ali cover over the motor to stop any interference with nearby cables, regards ivor ---- Fergus Kyle <VE3LVO@rac.ca> wrote: > Cheers, > Ferg on the beg again..... > I am trying to maximize the tiny instrument panel volume and have > come across my nemesis, the small rotating disc housing the turbo control > cable on the motor sitting on the centre mount - quite starboard. I was just re-reading the requirements for entering the U.S., all in all a bit of a pain. However, I wonder if anyone can suggest a G.A. friendly airport with customs and preferably alternate runways and a restaurant that would make for a nice day trip. I'd be crossing over at Port Huron. Gents I'm in the process of making up the water (or hopefully just fuel) drain mod for fitting to HI. I've made up the finger strainers and the manual says that they can be soldered or reduxed. I tried to solder them but couldn't really get the gauze clean enough to solder well enough that I was happy there wouldn't be bits of solder wandering about on both sides of the Gauze. I acquired another piece of gauze from Europa and this time, reduxed it along the seam and around the end where its pinched onto the copper tube. My question is, after soaking the unit in petrol for about 6 hours, the redux doesn't appear to be 100 percent fuel resistant as it seems to have softened (it was given about 72 hrs to cure). Does anyone know if Redux is OK for permanent immersion in Mogas? Thanks Peter

Just an update: We now have an official Transponder Prohibited Zone, covering about half the country. Lelystad is within this TPZ. Most likely you will only fly inside this TPZ. Now, before you logically conclude that you don't need a mode S transponder to cross the Netherlands, I hate to have to tell you that carriage of a mode S transponder is still mandatory in the Netherlands. You are only not allowed to turn it on. Welcome to our wonderful country. -- Frans Veldman

Pete=2C I just pulled a tank out of an 8 year old Europa with Redux/Araldite/Epibon d 420 A/B and it is holding up very well. 10% Ethynol Mogas can soften the outer layer just as it does most sealers l ike Pro Seal=2C and the bond still holds at a 10% ratio. Keep in mind=2C t hat Redux cured below 75F or until a full week will not be totally cured=2C but will hold. Huntsman produces product data sheets with characteristic reaction to chemicals. My tests in the shop use the Redux to hold various acrylics/urethanes to te st for fuel tubing=2C and the Redux holds up perfectly for me in a week lon g test. As for soldering=2C I use a scotch bright cleaning=2C flux and a torch to s older=2C just like I do with copper water supply lines...No problem. But I always use Redux to seat the gauze in the fuel fitting. Subject: pitot tube connectors
Guys... I have carelessly allowed the barb on the pitot tube connector used at the wing root to be snapped off...these are those cute little white nylon male/female connectors. I need a replacement. I note in the Acft. Spruce catalog an item which APPEARS to be the right part; a P/ N 05-01036 which is listed as a fuel line connector for 1/4" tubing. Inasmuch as the actual hole in the barb and tubing supplied w/ the kit is only about 1/16" diameter, I question whether this size would be appropriate for use as part of a fuel system. Before I order the replacement part, is there anyone who can verify that the P/N above is the correct size for the pitot system? Hi Fred, I can't confirm that it is the correct part or not, but if it turns out that it isn't then I think you can find what you need at McMaster Carr. Take a look at: http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/115/184/=1fnqwu Which should be (if I haven't messed it up) page 183 of their catalog. Also, when you get to plumbing up pitot static system I see that Stenair have some really neat connector systems. See http://www.steinair.com/pitot.htm Regards, Paul

Fred=2C The part is made by Colder Products Company (PC1701 and 1201 I believe) and I stock them in sets as I go through them like water and use them many mor e places. Some additional uses are: the manifold line=2C alternate static sources=2C Dynon pitot tubes where I build them on to a panel for convenien t access=2C altitude encoder for testing=2C etc. Everybody should have a spare set and a spare static end for the pitot. Go od insurance. They are about $5.00 a set. email me off line and I can get you some. Since it looks like my kit is missing door hinges of any type, I'll have to get some. I seem to remember talk of stronger hinges for the doors being spec'd out at some point. Anyone have a vendor/part # handy? Thanks, Dan Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

Hi All, I remember seeing something on here about a slight mod to the installation of the bungee cord, something about cutting it into 2 pieces? Can't find anything on it now, just wondering if there's anyone with more info on this and what the benefit is of doing it. Thanks, Dan Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

I routed mine so the ends were ar the bottom. The ends are fixed through eyebolts mounted on the top side of the mono leg. This enables them to be adjusted for tension from below without removing the firewall.
