      Thanks Chaps,

I'll have a think about that and decide whether to mount them underneath. I was
planning on doing a Hi-top mod which may make this problem worse and so a lower
      mounting may be better.

      Duncan,

In the C172 I once owned, I made the vents much quieter by stuffing some
steel wool into the duct. Steel is a misnomer because it was actually
      the plastic stuff.

      Best regards

Whilst grateful for the general quietness of the Europa, inside and
out, the cabin NACA vents and associated 'eyeball' contribute
      substantially to cabin noise.
If during flight the vent is temporarily blocked with ,say, a finger,
the reduction in overall noise (possibly including some external engine
noise coming through the vent) is noticeable. Same thing can be
      experienced on an airliner.

Does anyone have any advice as to how these vents can be quietened?

        Duncan McF.

While I have asked this question previously I don't recall receiving a definitive
answer. Have the dates of the 2009 Rough River Fly-In been set? If so, when
is the event scheduled. I would love to attend this year, however, my calendar
for September is starting to fill up. If I recall correctly it is this month
in which the fly-in is held. Please advice.

      Kind regards,

      Dear Europaphiles,
Has anyone made their windsheilds serviceable by making them removeable? I
know the direction call for bonding them in, however, I would like to explor
e if anyone has gone in this direction.

      Hi Jeffery

I havn't heard of having a removable windshield, but

someone used small screws to hold in position while bonding and
      think left
      them there.

      Aslight off topic question
      from original
question, does anyone layup perhaps some thin model
      aeroplane cloth or
perhaps 1 BID over plexiglass seam to help
      prevent any cracking?

I have removed a windscreen (when doing the High top - low cowl mod). By
the careful application of a heat gun to the edge of the screen the 420 can
be convinced to let go. You can then slide a putty knife between the
screen and the frame. You can do this without damaging damaging the
surrounding composite but you may need a heat shield (plumber's asbestos
mat) to protect the composite in some places. We did break the old screen
by being a bit ham fisted at first but most of it came out in one piece.

Once the screen was removed any remaining 420 was siftened with heat and
      scraped from the frame.

I just scrambled together a DOS-capable computer and got the TCU
connected. My 914 has had only 49 minutes at the factory...
I also checked the readings of the TCU, and I noticed that the airbox
temp reading was 10 degrees Celcius higher than the real temperature.
This was without the engine running, and completely cooled down (not
started for more than a week).
I guess this airbox-temperature thing is only used for lowering the
boost pressue if the airbox gets to the critical temp of about 70-80
degrees Celcius, so I assume this is nothing to worry about, especially
not because I have an intercooler and do noet expect such high airbox
      temperatures.

      Hi Erich,

????? I'm not sure when it is, but Corky and I are looking forward to it.? We attended
last year and had a great time meeting everyone.

Not sure who puts it together, but I'll let you know?if I here anything.?

By the way I bought a Spacewalker ll from David Martin out in OR. He is going to
bring it to Ohio by truck the first week of Sept.? Maybe I'll be able to bring
it to rough river. It's a lot slower flyer than my europa.? Hope to see you
      in KY.

While I have asked this question previously I don't recall receiving a
definitive answer. Have the dates of the 2009 Rough River Fly-In been set? If

so, when is the event scheduled. I would love to attend this year, however, my

calendar for September is starting to fill up. If I recall correctly it is this

month in which the fly-in is held. Please advice.

      Kind regards,
      Erich Trombley
