Normally for instrumentation (industry) we are using Teflon tape, but there is also a Teflon sealing fluid (pasta) on the market. Maybe that this is better for "tank" connectors to avoid getting parts of the Teflon tape into the fuel system Best Regards, Bruno _____ Von: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] Im Auftrag von Sidsel & Svein Johnsen Gesendet: Samstag, 25. The tape has the risk of small pieces of it splitting off and getting into your fuel system. Svein - I've been using Loctite 577 (originally recommended to me by Graham Singleton) but have yet to test its effectiveness as my fuel system is still dry. I would NOT use any tape sealant as it's impossible to ensure that small pieces are not set adrift inside the fuel system - to lead to a bad day sometime later. Incidentally what are the recommended torques for 1/8" & 1/4" NPT, and where did you find a reference to them? regards Rowland -- | Rowland Carson LAA #16532 http://home.clara.net/rowil/aviation/ | 1280 hours building Europa #435 G-ROWI e-mail ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 11:22:13 AM PST US From: Robert Borger Subject: Europa-List: Throttle fix Gents, Don't know if any of you remember or not, but I kinked the throttle cable and had to come up with a suitable replacement. I believe I have found a good working solution that should not have any further problem with kinking. Mind you, I am not recommending this solution to anyone else only pointing out what worked for me. You are on your own for a solution to this problem should you kink your throttle cable. I've posted my solution on my build web site should you be interested. Unfortunately, the solution came with another setback. In order to get the wire to exit the cable sheath, I had to disconnect the cable sheath end at the starboard carb mount. As I was unscrewing the nut holding things, the sheath took the bit in its teeth and made a run for it flinging the nut off into the vicinity of Neverland or there 'bouts. Since this is a metric nut I don't happen to have a suitable replacement on hand. A new nut will have to be ordered from Lockwood. Always something. No great rush as long as it's here sometime next week while I'm at Airventure. With any luck, I can fix things next weekend. Then I can get the engine going again and rebalance the carbs. Hope to see a lot of you folks at Airventure! It flew beautifully hands off and doesn't seem to need any aileron or rudder trim. Hard to descend and land as it just wanted to keep flying! Empty weight is 866 pounds. Many thanks to Tim Ward, Nev Eyre, Bud Yerly, John and Roger at Europa and others who have helped me many times during the build. Regards to all and happy flying, Keith Hickling, New Zealand. ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 05:38:07 PM PST US From: "craig bastin" Subject: RE: Europa-List: First flight ZK-MEE Congrats, she looks good craig ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 05:38:09 PM PST US From: Bill Sisley Subject: Re: Europa-List: First flight ZK-MEE ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 06:12:52 PM PST US From: Robert Borger Subject: Re: Europa-List: First flight ZK-MEE Keith, CONGRATULATIONS!
