Subject: | Re: Mounting Windows |
Well for those almost up to this stage, heres what I opted for, and it seems
to work nicely
I carefully drilled a series of tiny holes about 1cm apart every 50mm or so
along the offending
twisted sections and then used small pieces of stainless tie wire ( the
stuff you all have for
securing all those safety wired nuts and bolts) and wired a mixing stick to
the outside of the plexi
pulling the wire tight from the inside. Later the glued in wire can be
easily removed by heating the
wire with a soldering iron from the inside if it is really stuck.
hope this helps those that are fighting their windows

Hi,
Just a minor point to check I've not done anything wrong.
I'm fitting Mod 70 from new rather than replacing. The instructions say use an
AN3-10A bolt to hold the TP18B component in place. If I do this then I have
about 3-4mm of unthreaded shaft pointing out from the other side. The instructions
then say use an AN960-10L washer behind the nut but this is not thick enough
to get over the unthreaded shaft. I believe the bolt I have is the correct
item and I could obviously pad it out with washers but why not use an AN3-9A
or something OR have I done something wrong?
Regards,
Phil

One option would be to put a layer of microfiber fabric over your carpet/rubber/etc.
as the final contact material with the wing. Microfiber is extremely soft
(it's what your eyeglass cleaning cloths are made of) but is very durable (it's
what a lot of furniture is covered with these days).
Because the fibers are microscopically thin, they're woven extremely close to one
another so dirt and debris can't penetrate and brushes right off.
Opt for one of the thicker versions for durability's sake. It's available at any
fabric store in just about any color and is dirt cheap. Buy enough to replace
every year or so as the sun and weather will eventually get to it.

Phil
The instructions on Mod 70 page 2 are "Using the bolt, washer and nut from
the old assembly, bolt the TP18B to the arm assembly". The original build
manual specifies that bolt as a AN3-7A (Page 20-2).
I have an arm here and you are correct that an AN3-10A would leave 3-4mm of
unthreaded shaft. The AN3-7a is just the correct length.
