Hi Robert
The 2 extra bits of frame, one either side, were an early mod and
should
have been welded in place. I did hear that some builders who had
already
installed the frame in the fuselage used Redux to fit the extra
supports.
If yours have been Reduxed then heating with a hot air gun or small gas
torch will soften the glue and allow removal.

Subject: U/C frame
Hi Rob,
The struts that you say 'appear to be glued in' are in fact. These struts
were incorporated into the U/C frame as a mod way back in 1996 as a
mandatory mod. The mod concerned is no 28 and since you will probably not
have a copy of it I attach one herewith.
So they will be removable with some local heating and a bit of persuasion.
Hot air gun heat should be enough. No flames! As you will notice it is
'stuck in with Redux 420.
Later build kits had these struts welded in as standard.

I agree the link I sent is asking alot
(nice picture though), should be something that one should have on hand to
remove gearbox.
It's not just the slide hammer you need, also
needthe proper fixture to connect to the gearbox.
Perhaps
someone has some ideas and we could go in on a joint purchase?

Folks,
I remove my gearbox every 300 and send it to the local rotax service
center to have the clutch checked out.
I have always been able to remove it by tapping with a plastic mallet.
For me is has always come off quite easily with gentle tapping.

tomorrow (Friday).
Muckleborough=2C otherwise known as Weybourne=2C is a former RAF historic a
irfield. It has a museum=2C and catering on site=2C but no radio. Safety fr
equency is used.

Be warned that the catering (at the museum) is a healthy
walk away. At least 20 minutes.
When I went in there there was NO-ONE anywhere near !
The approaches are interesting (!) and the runways slope
significantly downhill towards the north. Read Pooleys
very carefully.

I second all that Richard warns about. A very 'interesting' airfield. When
you think you are running out of runway, you crest the hill and see more but
you have probably opened the throttle by then (If you have sense) :-)
The tank demos are interesting if you manage to catch them.

Hi Richard et al
I landed there in G-BYSA (Mono) a couple of weeks ago. Agree the place is
different, but great fun for a Europa. The cafe in the museum is literally a
stone's throw from the airfield, honest. There is also a delightfully
quirky cafe serving crab in Weybourne which is a pleasant 20 minutes away. I
reckon that is the place that you must be thinking of.
On my last trip I walked along the cliff's into Sheringham with my
girlfriend and then caught the steam train back to the airfield. I admit
that it was a full day, hence did not have time to enjoy the museum which
literally adjoins the strip.
Each pilot must make own judgement, but given good weather and a
precautionary overflight, Muckleborough should be enjoyable.
If the control caravan is not manned I could take my handheld if anyone
wants a ground based opinion

Sorry, I just got back from a trip to Florida, so I have only just seen your
email.
I have the 16.5mm reamer that is Garys. It is here in the states, so a
'reamer from hell' shipped through customs and their quadruple glances won't
be necessary!
Send me your address offsite, and I will be happy to send it on its way.

Hi all,
the perfect solution for the mod 72 is to use a dremel 16mm cylinder abrade.
It is possible to use gently and do not make a damage in the tube.
