Hi Guys...
After biting the bullet and ordering a RAM Performance Sube EA81
derivative engine, I must now deal w/ aux. fuel pump selection...I've
been planning on installing two for redundancy downstream from a
single gascolator. Acft Spruce lists a number of different models of
Facet fuel pumps.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/facetpumps.php
There's a notation at the bottom of the page stating that "the above"
fuel pumps "do not feature an anti-siphoning valve and fuel will flow
through them in event of pump failure". That would seem to indicate
that if using two of them, they should be installed in series rather
than parallel in order to avoid loss of fuel pressure by having the
operative pump pumping fuel back thru the failed pump instead of to
the engine. (I'm presuming that an anti-siphoning valve functions as a
back flow preventer.)
I'd welcome comment on my reasoning and any suggestions on alternate
brands of pumps.

I would install them in the same way as recommended with the Europa
engine. That is, in series with two external one-way valves. The one-way
valves act as a bypass for the non-functioning fuel pump.
Why, you might ask, the fuel pumps flow through anyway? Well, if a fuel
pump is broken, you can't count on anything. Maybe just the motor gave
up the ghost, but it is also possible that a vane broke off and is now
blocking the stream, or the axle broke and the entire pump section
scattered in pieces, or something downstream of the filter got loose and
plugged the pump, or whatever. The fuel pump might let the fuel through,
but it might also not. If all this could never happen, you didn't need a
secondary fuel pump anyway. Just make sure that if you take one fuel
pump completely out of the equation, you can still get fuel to the engine.

Thanks Frans...sage advice as I've come to expect from you. I'll be
doing further research w/ regard to desired pressures, etc.
BTW, how are you coming?...still looking for first flight this fall?

Yep. Well, no, make it winter. ;-) Next month the airplane will go to a
professional painter. Interior is already finished. I just have to go
through a long list with various small issues, but we are slowly getting
there.
Your wing root fairings are installed. Took me some headaches to do it
in such a way that the airplane can still be easily transported, that a
conversion to glider wings remains possible, and that the result is not
only airworthy but also pretty and functional. I think I succeeded in
that. ;-) Will try to find some time to post some pictures.

Hi all,
3 X 912S engine were stolen from 2 X Fox Bats and a Sting aircraft on the evening
of 22 Saturday.
The engines were removed with care but the aircraft were left sitting on their
tails in the dirt with engine cowls placed to one side.
Should anyone be offered an aircraft engine or propeller, PLEASE make sure of its
origin, as this sort of theft will directly effect us all in the future, and
of course, If you happen to find out who is selling them, we would LOVE to know!!

Hi
Where did this theft occur?, I ask this because a 912S was stolen some
weeks ago from an aircraft at a strip in Worcestershire UK.
