All I have lost without visible or known reason two innner tyres in my Monowheel. Loosing suddenly main gear=B4s air pressure is not a funny game and did not make my day actually. Both of them have been original -Europa supply. That means they are Indonesian made Deli Co=B4s "Nanco" 8.00 x6/7 TR-87 -type. Both times I have found a very little crack (dry rot they say) on the sidewalls. Google "Nanco problems" ... Main /outer tyre (Airtrac) is unhurt and a new like. May I please get a recommendation about a good quality inner tyre?! Kind Regards, Raimo from Finland OH-XRT 139 hrs 280 landings

Hi! All UK Flyers.... Further to what I thought was a helpful leaflet with regards to keeping legal with HMRC, Immigration/Border Agency, and Police Anti-Terrorism Authorities as you may well expect nothing can be so simple when it transgresses Multiple Bureaucratic Departments! I must now refer you to the General Aviation Report "Completion and Submission Instructions" where you will find that there are further obligations to conform to. It now transpires that there is a list of Designated Airfields and COA Airfields which have Certificates of Agreements or "Concessions" These 92 CoA airfields require you to include them in for a copy of your GA Report Fax. (See GAR Instructions May 09 vl.1a page 3) Similarly on GAR Instructions May 09vl.1a page 2 is listed the details of Anti-Terrorism Police Forces who also need prior notification! All these documents are readily available on the HMRC web site at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk So the original leaflet over simplifies the requirements as evidenced by the fact that when 20 miles out from Texel last Saturday I was advised that Elstree wouldn't accept my flight plan inbound to them ! In spite of the fact that I submitted the GA Report Form a minimum of 24 hours ahead! Since I had put North Weald as my alternative I dropped in there (also a COA field) illegally then immediately departed to Elstree where I was accepted as a local domestic flight! So in summary :- Either fly into recognized Customs and Immigration airports and pay the necessary additional landing fees OR "roll your own" and carry a suitcase full of damn paper with you for reference and Fax numbers. Since I abhor bureaucracy I will in future be showering them with faxes and saving otherwise unnecessary, time inconvenient and landing costs. So likewise there probably also exists a similar (jobs for the boys) system in the EU when flying outbound to them! Best regards Bob Harrison G-PTAG

Hi, I have this happen regularly. I now just change them every 100 hours and I never travel without my jacking block and a spare inner tube. I have tried inner tube talcum powder and different pressures with out much improvement. The failure mode seems to be chafing on the side wall due to running such low pressure. U.S. Europaphiles, I'm afraid that we must cancel our trip to the U.S. Europa Fly-In at Rough River. The weather refuses to cooperate. We have had over 2 weeks of solid IFR here in North Texas and it's not going to improve before Sunday. I have been unable to fly The Little Dragon Lady at all so it's still at 15 hours. I was going to rent a DA-20 or Remos from the local flight school but the weather between here and 2I3 is forecast to be IFR through Sunday. My best regards to all who make it. We hope to see you at KOSH and other fly-in gatherings over the next year. Check six, Bob Borger

Bob and all, We are in the same boat... literally. We've had 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and more to come all weekend. I believe we're the closest to Rough River and this front isn't going anywhere. There is rain forecast and IFR all weekend into next week here. I will be driving up but I doubt there could be anyone flying in by the forecast I'm getting. Dare we consider canceling and trying for another soon to be nice weekend. I'm sure the fly-in / drive in attendance will be low because of this weather. Jeff R. Dan, I've had good luck with both B&C Specialty Products and Aircraft Spruce. Though ACS is more limited in colors. I'm sure there are many others out there. Jeff, I would recommend gel coat and in particular Swabilec - sprayed and then rubbed down to a perfect finish with wet & dry. It is what most racing gliders are finished with and they of course look for the ultimate finish on their laminar flow surfaces. Jeff, After using K38 (PPG) high build primer and blocking down several times I then used Sherwin Williams Geniuses automotive finish. One coat then one wet coat and that was it. Looks good. However, If I had to do it all over again I would use these... http://www.loehle.com/loehle_aero_coatings_on_rv_aircr.htm Mike Loehle will be at Rough River and anyone is interested they can sit in on a talk he's giving on his finishes to the Louisville EAA chapter. Rubber deteriorates by oxidation, the process is accelerated by heat and flexing, conditions that exist inside tires. This may have something to do with why inner tubes are no longer used in most motor vehicles. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=263590#263590

To all, When Dirk and me planned to go to Texel, we would have made the Waddentrip on Sunday till Wangerooge and then fly back over mid-Germany to our home base at Leopoldsburg, Belgium. We cancelled the Waddentrip because the weather over Germany for our return was not what we expected good VFR conditions. We met Jiri twice before and he was very agreable company; now we missed him because we didn't stay the night over and returned on Saturday. Nowadays we can get good meteo information. Let us take a lesson out of this accident. We are good weather pilots and fly in only VFR conditions with our small airplanes. Nevertheless, I am very sad for what happened to the brothers Vicharek, and hope some one will bring my condoleances to their families. From: "rampil" <ira.rampil@gmail.com>
ACS is fine if you need to pay full retail, but, for my money I have consistently found great deals on wire and cable at SkyCraft.com It is a great source of military and industrial surplus from the Florida aerospace industry. It is best to visit in person. They have a whole room for just mil-spec wire, but you can order by phone. -------- Ira N224XS Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=263593#263593

At this point my plans are to drive up Saturday AM. I don't know who all is driving in or attempting flying in. If we could change things for better flying weather I would vote for that but it may be too late. Has anyone called the resort to see if it's possible for credit? I would think there would be rooms available as the season winds down. If not I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday and a few beers Saturday night. Regards, Jeff R. Hi All, Well I have just finished watching the 10.00pm edition of the Weather Channel and it doesn't look too great. I had planned on flying down in a rented Cherokee, but I am not prepared to fly an un familiar aircraft IFR. I'll check the TAF's tomorrow. I don't really want to call the event off, after all , for the people driving in I can think of worse things to do than sitting around drinking beer with a bunch of people and telling lies about airplanes.
