Terve! I cannot accept this! It should not be a part of our life we live (and fly) nowadays ! Landing with empty tyre could hurt seriously in the worst case scenario. There must be something to prevent this happening so often or even better - never! I used also talcum powder and now the whole plane smells roses (I asked powder with jet fuel smell but they have not!). What=B4s your tire pressure, Paul? I have used always 2,2 PSI = 2,4 kg/cm2 (that=B4s about double they recommend). BTW it is easy to check: in my case 2,2 PSI equals 162 mm = 6,38" from the asphalt surface to the lowest point of the main axle (port side). That is a poor man=B4s Mono Main Tyre=B4s Pressure Gauge. I made a mistake w pressure units - sorry: 1 bar = 10 N/cm2 = (about) 1 kp/cm2 = 1 kg/cm2. 1 PSI = pound/inc2 = 0,454 kg/6,45 cm2 = 0,07 bar 1 bar = 14,3 PSI. You are right Karel, there are too many accidents caused by pushing the weather due to "get-home-itis". We must keep in mind that our little airplanes are not designed for that and most of us (at least in Europe) are VFR pilots only. I met Jiri/Georges at the RSA fly-in in Vichy two years ago and had a short flight with him, as he wanted to have my own feeling on the vibration level of his Europa Monowheel OK-EXS. A very nice guy. I will miss him. My thoughts go to his young family. Remi Guerner <<<<<<Nowadays we can get good meteo information. Let us take a lesson out of this accident. We are good weather pilots and fly in only VFR conditions with our small airplanes. Nevertheless, I am very sad for what happened to the brothers Vicharek, and hope some one will bring my condoleances to their families. Karel Vranken.>>>>>>>

The Weather Saga Continues. Homer Baker and I were looking to fly in, but that was dashed earlier by the weather and our VFR planes. My driving plans are now significantly impacted as continued rain in the Tampa Area has put my house repairs behind. (Long story, but house flooded and is being restored slowly.) I have contractors working through this weekend on errors and quality problems and I need to be present. We have water today, and just need toilets set and the, dishwasher, washing machine and the oh so important filtered water on the fridge, back up and running for the wife. Should be done tonight. So driving is out now. Unfortunately, it looks like their will only be a few Europa owners now due to weather, and to add to the insult, now I'm not bringing beer. That sucks. I have left a message for Dave Conrad that I'll cover my share of the room. I had planned on flying down in a rented Cherokee, but I am not prepared to fly an un familiar aircraft IFR. I'll check the TAF's tomorrow. I don't really want to call the event off, after all , for the people driving in I can think of worse things to do than sitting around drinking beer with a bunch of people and telling lies about airplanes.
