SLIME is simply a tyre sealant which coats the inside of the tyre or inner
tube with a viscous compound which seals any punctures that occur.
Its intended as an emergency repair but I have used it in my car for a few
years. You have to be careful with car usage as it can throw out the wheel
balance but in the Europa, it doesent matter if the wheel is out of balance.
Available for tubed or tubeless tyres it contains rubber granules which
combine with the sealant to fill in any punctures - it will cope with nail
size holes without problem. When there is a puncture it oozes from the hole
leaving a fluorescent trail so that you know you have a problem.
Slime is a trade name but there are other makes available which are no doubt
just as effective.
I looked on their site and they have an European catalog so I assume it is
available worldwide.

Subject: | Re: Rough River Weather |
Jim & All,
It just seems like this wasn't meant to happen for me either. My wife
came home from watching out grandkids the other day not feeling well.
She's fine now but last night it started on me. Hoping today would be
better I felt pretty good other than some sniffles. As the weather here
seem to improve and it looked like I may be able to get thru I took off
in Gold Rush just before 11:a. I made it to almost the KY line north of
Nashville when the ceilings got too low. A few holes got me on top only
to find some cumulus just north in my way. I don't have on board XM
weather so I decided to come back down and 180 back. Showers to my west
at that point and a small one to my east made me realize I needed to
get my speed up and scamper back home to TN14. Gold Rush is back on the
ground and in my den and I'm happy to be here as well. I guess we to
will have to wait till next year.
Have some fun up there for us.
Maybe us flyers could find another good weekend before years end to
meet. What we need is a DOTH place here as well. After all we are fair
weather folks.
I'm going to include here two pictures of our new runway. These photos
were taken from my property. We have finally finished the grading of
the dirt between my 900 feet of green runway and my friends 2700 feet
TN14. By spring or maybe even before we will have the longest grass
runway in Tennessee. ;O) Yippee!! Over 4 thousand feet. She's crowned
and is perfectly level. Other than building Gold Rush this has been one
of the best projects I've ever been a part of. (That disclaimer
protects me from my wife and kids ;o)
Anyway one day I would like to invite you all here for some camping and
fun. We are right in the middle of the country so it might work out
well. The hanger / Home is a work in progress.
Best Regards,
Jeff R.

Subject: | Re: Rough River Weather |
Jim,
I sent this once earlier but it didn't go thru. My pictures we're too
large I think. Anyway... Weather improved here and it looked like I may
be able to scoot up before the afternoon rains started. I tried to fly
gold rush up at 10:30a but I hit low ceilings north of Nashville by the
KY border. I climbed up thru a hole only to see some cums to my north
in my path. As I was coming down thru a shrinking hole I did a 180 and
headed back. To my east was rain and the west was more. I quickly
pushed her back home and am safe in my man cave / hanger. It's now
pouring outside here. I need WX weather and I probably would have made
it.
I'm fighting a head cold as well so I've succumbed to the idea that I
wont be coming.
Maybe we all need to start our own DOTH to somewhere here in the
states. FYI we just seeded the last piece of runway that will connect
my 900 feet to another 2700 foot runway my friend owns for a total of
over 4,000 feet usable. It's more than we'll need but it's sure a nice
safety cushion. Here is a few pictures. This has been one of the best
projects I've ever got myself into. Lots of work but lots of fun.
Nothing like a cold one at the end of a long day in the heat. Maybe one
day we can have everyone in here for a camp out and some fun.
Sure wish I was there.
Best Regards,
Jeff R.

Jeff,
WOW, what a great setup you have there! 543 NM from KDTO. Fair
distance for a DOTH, but worth a try (If I can ever get the 40 hrs
flown off!).
