After over 1000h on my good 912, I'm thinking about "upgrading" my
Europa "Mk I" (mono) with a new 912 "S" engine.
I'm wondering if the "Mk I" cowling with it's radiators will be ok for
the 912S, or if I have to change the cowling/engine mount etc to the "Mk
II" version...
In my current installation I have mounted the oil cooler just below the
spinner in the lower cowling and never had any tempreature issues.
Is anybody out there having an original "Europa Mk I" with a 912S?
Appreciate your advise!
Thanks,
Klaus

Hi Klaus
I have been thinking of doing the same thing. The 912S is the same size
as
the 912 so no problem for a direct exchange. - However, Nigel Charles
found
that the larger starter motor available for the 912S would not fit with
the
Classic engine mount (so use smaller starter and the 'soft start' pack.
Also I understand from Peter Rees that the new AC mechanical fuel pump
will
not fit as it fouls the radiator on the Classic. The original pump is
available Peter sent me the following contact who can supply.
Regards
Pete
Pump came from a Pieburg distributor in Germany (he seems to send the
pumps
and rely on trust for you to send the money!) - he can be contacted at
www.ruddies-burlin.de the pump model number is 7.20971.55

This item is not directly concerned solely on Europa business but you can
see that Northrepps Airfield is under threat from the planning authorities.
I'm sure that we Aviators would soon call for help should our own airfield
facility become threatened by planning authorities.
Spare a thought for these folks at Northrepps and spend 10 minutes
draughting a letter towards their support as below.
I am sorry if any duplication of this message has caused you any
inconvenience.
Best regards

Sorry to be a pain (especially if you had this already) but they have taken
some advice and if you see below an E mail to the planning guys wouldn't go
a miss?
No suggestion as to what to say and how apart from support as originality is
the key from what I can gather.
Usual request to badger your fellow aviator friends.
Thanks, Regards, Clive

Right then, here we go:
Chris Gurney (Airfield Owner & Operator) has been advised by his
Planning Agent (Peter Kember, who specializes in this area) that it would
really make the Planning Officer sit up and take note if a tidal wave of
e-mails in support of the Planning Application Renewal arrive at his inbox,
just as he did when a couple of hundred letters of objection fell on his
doormat. The majority of these were identical, funnily enough, so I'm hoping
you'll each input a bit of originality into messages of support that you
send.
Please set out e-mail in the following manner;

IPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=72456> PF/09/1082
Txt: To include the following.....
"I am writing to you in support of the above application."
It would then be appreciative if you could either write what you did on the
online petition or compose just a short line why you think Northrepps
Aerodrome should be granted permanent permission. Please include your name
and address or town so they can see where support is coming from.
I know it's a bit of a pain, but a couple of minutes spent now could save
the airfield. A copy is being sent to us at the airfield so we can get an
idea how many are sent.
The crew at Northrepps really thank you for your time and effort.
