I guess this is close enough to really register flight hours (with in mind the option to use the Europa as a motor-glider, so flight hours might differ substantially from engine hours). Frans Oh yes you are more or less flying than taxiing when your speed is above 42 knots. I assume Garmin & Trio think "hey we are flying" when the speed is above 20 knots or so. So, their flight hour register s not so exact than your method. Counting flight hours only when the gear is upp means you loose let is say one or two minutes flight hour every leg...so what! Hi Jeff, I feel not to be a Guru but I am brave enough to answer: I have two 35 W Xenon lights. RT=C2=B4s taxi light is hidden in the lower cowl turbo air intake (I have 912S so the intake is not necessary for my engine). It is ON in the attached photo. RT=C2=B4s landing light is built-in to the duct above the air cooler=C2=B4s air intake. It is OFF but visible in the attached photo. Both are very effective and I have been happy with them all night long. Typical GA landing light 100 W like in Cessna is a children=C2=B4s torch when compared with these Xenons. An extra benefit: they does not care off vibration or so and their expected life span is around +1000 hrs. They are also light weight. Today you can find even 500 Watts leds and their size is like a mail stamp. But a cooling is a huge (power led=C2=B4s cooler is huge!) problem.
