Apologies for the rather excessive size of the attachments in last post. I do
hope it does not bung up the system!

Subject: | Piano hinge for cowling |
Rick,
Keep in mind that the hinge will be following the curve(s) of the cowl, this
has the effect of making the gaps where the hinge halves mate together
smaller, you will need to file a small taper on each end of each lug. Also
in my case the original hinge wire ended up being to hard to insert and
remove. I went for a stainless wire that was a fraction smaller in diameter
and it works well.

Yup Pete thanks
the problem was a slight offset in the tube which I fixed by drilling a
third hole and enlarging the offending lower hole which caused the offset
An almost imperceptible offset on the lugs caused a 3deg difference in
the flaps which might have caused interesting flying characteristics :-)

Hey John Wigney. I don't have your direct e-mail but Paul suggested I
talk to you on Rough River. He's out of the country right now. How
about dropping me an e-mail or call me to discuss it. I believe there
was talk about re-doing with the EAA local chapter like last year.
Lets talk.
