I have the Grand Rapids and have had a similar problem with some very
strange readings. The symptoms were that half the readings produced by the
unit were OK but the other half were all over the place.
I contacted Grand Rapids and they were helpful but could not offer a
particular explanation. After a lot of investigation, including pulling out
the entire unit, I found that all it was a broken cylinder head temp probe.
Once this was disconnected everything else went back to normal. With the
probe replaced everything was OK.
So my recommendation is to disconnect the sensors one at a time until you
find the duff one

Thanks Ian=2C I'll do that as well. I already removed the ch probe=2C becau
se the wire was corroded=2C repaired the wire=2C but it didn't change anyth
ing.
My strongest lead is the fact that this only happens when the engine is run
ning.

Hi, saw your post, try Markcs (at) btinternet.com he runs the LAA. ET avionics
course and is very helpful, he just started a business so his availability should
be good.
He is helping with swop out of some equipment in my Europa G-IPOD.

Dear All,
Following a strong smell of fuel in the cockpit my co-owner and I have recently
discovered a leak between a union (FPA904/A) and the selector valve (6749).
In the course of tracking down this leak we discovered a lot of the fuel hose
was in bad shape due to fuel exposure and chafing. We have decided to replace
the selector and its unions along with most of the fuel hose in and around the
cockpit.
We didn't build the aircraft and so are quite new to all this...
Our questions,
1 Does the fuel selector part No 6749 click? I noticed in Aircraft Spruce and Speciality
a very similar selector to 6749 does, but in the description of 6749
no mention is made of this. The selector we have fitted clicks and so we are
keen to keep it the same.
2 When tightening the unions into the selector should any sealing compound be used?
The build manual makes no mention of this but given the situation we find
ourselves in now we are keen to get this right! Is it because brass is soft enough
to seal well?
3 Replacement fuel hose. I have been searching and reading through many postings
on this list for a recommendation on the hose to use. We would like to use a
hose that reduces as much as possible the petrol smell and gives as long a service
life as possible. I have read gates R9 hose is good but can`t find a european
supplier. Also a recommendation for the clips to use would be welcome.
In our existing system jubilee clips have been used and in a couple of places
the band that has passed through the worm drive has cut into nearby hose.
The Aircraft is LAA registered.
Many thanks
Richard

John,
I put my Bob Archer Nav antenna against the roof behind the baggage bay. There
are pics on my build site. I can provide more info after I get home from KOSH
if you are interested.

Subject: | Collecting my Europa Fuselage |
My fuselage kit is ready for collection from the factory (at last!) and I
was planning to hire a van to go and get it. However, I'm not sure if it
will fit any van that is readily available for hire. Karen at the factory
reckoned that the fuselage is around 16 feet long, which would be just a bit
too long for a long-wheelbase Transit-type van. Does anyone have any
recommendations for suitable vehicles?
Many thanks
Rick

Ah Rick...brings back memories...in my case to rendevouz w/ 3 other
builders to unload a container.
A pick up truck worked for me,
Good luck...and Happy Building!

Ahhh yes....the good ol days of kit collection. Wouldn't it be nice to go
back to that time? ........NOT!
I rented a large moving van for the journey. I can't remember its exact
length, somewhere around 30 feet?
