Hi! Karl I'm no particular authority but all the Rotax documentation I've seen is to start with the throttle completely shut. This ensures the carbs are on the correct settings for the start mode. Mine will not start or even try until I pull the throttle to absolutely Zero. If it won't start then probably the idle jets need resetting but where you commence doing that will need you to research the procedure. Regards Bob Harrison G-PTAG _____ From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Karl Heindl Sent: 14 August 2010 01:35 Subject: Europa-List: Cold start problems In addition to my other problems my engine now won't start with the choke only. I have to make repeated attempts, until eventually I get it going with no choke and a little throttle. My throttle minimum idle position is at around 1300rpm. I assume it has something to do with the carbs, but they were serviced by a Rotax agent not very long ago. Has anyone got any ideas where I should look ? I am able to start on one magneto for a softer start. This is not my year, but at least the glider wings have been up a few times. Karl

Hi Karl Be sure that your battery have enough power! Even a miner drop in battery-capacity will result in starting problems. The battery must be in good condition and be well charged. I am agree with this: check first the battery. I had the same problem, recharging the battery didn't solve the pb, and no more pb with a new "odyssey" battery regards yannick LAURENS F PSCZ mono 912 Le 14 ao=FBt 10 =E0 12:25, Lisbet og Gert Dalgaard a =E9crit : > Hi Karl > Be sure that your battery have enough power! > Even a miner drop in battery-capacity will result in starting > problems. > The battery must be in good condition and be well charged. > Regards Gert / OY-GDS / Mono / 914 > > > Den 14/08/2010 kl. 10.27 skrev Robert C Harrison: > >> Hi! Thank you all for the input. My battery is an Odyssey=2C and I am reading 1 2.5V. It turns the prop at a rapid rate=2C and there is some ignition=2C bu t not enough to keep it going.I will try try to jump start with my car righ t from the beginning to eliminate or confirm a battery problem. Re-starting the warm engine is instantaneous. My throttle is at idle. Karl From: yck.laurens@gmail.com Subject: Re: Europa-List: Cold start problems I am agree with this: check first the battery. Hi Karl, I know it sounds obvious, but my 914 is 'fussy' about cold starting if the plugs are not correctly gapped and clean. Paul
