Just thought I'd let any folks in the North American North-East (who are no t attending the Rough-River fly-in) of: WINGS OVER GATINEAU, CANADA=91S FIRST EAA FLY-IN! Mark your calendars for the first Canadian National EAA Fly-in! September 17 through 19. Canadians will have the opportunity to take part in the inaugural EAA fly-in in the Nation's Capital. September 18 is Vintage Wing s of Canada=91s Victoria Cross Airshow. This yearly event draws hundreds of aircraft and spectators. This year will feature, among other aircraft, their Goodyear FG-1D Corsair in honour of the Victoria Cross posthumous recipient, Lt.Robert Hampton Gray. This date also coincides with the Battl e of Britain celebration held at Rockcliffe on September 19. Flying aircraft will include the =94Merlins=91; Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum=91s Lanca ster, Spitfires, Hurricanes, and perhaps Russell=91s Bf 109 Messerschmitt. So tentative plans include Vintage Wings Victoria Cross Airshow together with a tour of the Vintage Wings collection of pristine warbirds, and collector=91s aircraft at Gatineau; a bussing excursion to Rockcliffe for t he Battle of Britain celebration and re-enactment; a tour of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum; all together with the camaraderie and making of friends from across the nation that is expected from an EAA Fly-in. Aircraft parking and camping with showers, etc., Plus camping and parking for the wheeled variety of RV=91s will make the visit comfortable and convenient. Local EAA Chapter 245 and a newly formed EAA Warbird Squadron will host the fly-in. NavCan will declare the airspace as Class F with arriving and departing aircraft under air traffic control. Transponders ar e not required, but radio communications will be. Plans include a giant B-B- Q on Friday night hosted by Vintage Wings, breakfast on Saturday morning hosted by EAA Chapter 245, and a sit-down dinner with French Canadian cuisine and live entertainment in the theme of the events on Saturday evening. Breakfast on Sunday morning will also be available. So check off these attractions: the sight and sounds of these magnificent aircraft; Vintage Wings=91salute to the Victoria Cross winners with their annual airshow; EAA playing a supportive role to the event with our first Canadian Fly-in; the battle of Britain re-enactment; the Canada Aviation and Space Museum; the camaraderie of aviation enthusiasts; airplanes; our unique cultural diversity; fantastic fall colours; Frenchcuisine. What=91snot to like? From: "SteveD" <Post2Forum@comcast.net>
Hello all, I have a user on EuropaOwners that is building a simulator out of XS Trigear G-BWGH shell. His post can be found here: http://www.europaowners.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&p=25326#p25326 Pictures here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1 ... a14a112000 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1 ... f6a0dc3948 http://jetranger.webs.com Here's his last post looking for information, if you can help him out please post on EuropaOwners, Thanks. Hey Steve, thanks again for your interest. I was wondering if you might be able to help me out. I've just started fine tuning the flight model on my own personal computer, ready for when the sim computers arrive. Would you be able to supply me with any of the following pieces of information, i realize that some are specific to each individual aircraft, but just the 'average' aircraft is fine for what i want: - Performance figures, i.e Power Setting, Rate of Climb and Airspeed, for a few different power settings - The different flap settings, how many settings are there normally, and to what angles are these settings? - The pitch range of the blades on the prop (constant speed), e.g. from 14 degrees to 40 degrees Any of this information would be much appreciated, i'll let you know if there's anything else i need as-well Thanks in advance for any help, Lucas Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org

Hi Troy / Graham / All, The ''whistle'' comes from the airflow over the slots in the rear fuselage where the tailplane trim tab ''Tee'' bar exits. During the flight testing of G-YURO and G-ELSA , we experimented with clos ing up all the gaps etc to see if there was any worth in doing just that, all that happened with the sealing of the tee bar slot was that the noise went. On G-ELSA, I had to replace the tailplane pitch pushrod, which meant cutti ng a 2 1/2'' hole in the lower sternpost to withdraw it aft, the whistle went, when I eventually plugged the hole, the whistle returned. I guess it is like playing a flute [ which I have never done] or blowing over the neck of a beer bottle [ which I have !] Cheers, Nev. -----Original Message----- From: GRAHAM SINGLETON <grahamsingleton@btinternet.com> Sent: Tue, 31 Aug 2010 12:12 Subject: Re: Europa-List: Europa Sounds in Flight Troy Many of us have heard it, that sound has been there since day 1. Hi Pete, Chris had suggested that we come down for this. Would be for the day on Friday or Saturday, and very much depends on the weather. Will probably just bring one of the aircraft. Just a note regarding low octane alco-free mo gas. As good an octane booster as alcohol is, it ain't nothin compared to tetraethyl lead. A previous fill of 100LL, burned down to 30% of capacity, when filled with 92RON will test higher than the 95RON with alcohol tests. Creighton AO36 PS This was knowledge won during the dark days of the '80s when we found that a mix of leaded regular and regulated unleaded gave a better AKI than either on our street rods. And 100LL has a lot more lead than leadad regular. Staved off extinction for a few years. C Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=310872#310872

Sorry to be late, but the 914 sounds perfect for you. As a guy who opted for a 912, I must say that if you are going anywhere (North American style) the advantage of getting up there and riding the winds at 12000 (more with O2) the 914 is hard to beat. If you were to couple this with the 914's superior fuel economy above 7000ft, well, the defense rests.
