Hi Juergen
The grease is called Nyogel 767a, Made by Nye Lubricants, inc USA all you
would need is a 50gms Sample pot,
I have already shared my pot four ways but if you cannot source any i can
probably squeeze one more from it,
Mod 59 is well worth doing and quite simple to do, Mod 59 PDF attached

I have the Trio (wing leveller) and think its great - easy to fit as an
after thought and no weight penalties over the turn coordinator I took
out. Links to my Skymap 3c.
The company has made good progress with its equipment in a short time
and when I have met the owners at Sun'n'Fun they seem to know the
business well. My opinion only.
Can't answer the second part but Ian Rickard possibly can (Mods rep for

Subject: Europa-List: Auto-pilot servos
Folks
I am getting started on my cockpit module and as I want to install an
auto-pilot, I am planning to buy and install the servos whilst
everything is easily accessible. My thinking at the moment is to buy
Trio servos as these seem to be well supported by the various EFIS
manufacturers. I have a couple of questions: firstly, are Trio as good
as their web site says they are? And secondly, there is an option on
the Trio to have auto trim adjustment - is this worth having and is it
approved by the LAA as part of the auto-pilot mod?
Cheers

John, Where are you based and when do you hope to go to Texel?
I am hoping to go out on Friday with Dave Bosomworth from Popham and another
Europa in tow would not be a problem
Our routing is normally Dover - Konan- Ostend. Although it is over water for
an hour you can see the coast on either side all the way (visibility
permitting!!).

Hi! Ron/Will/all
Re:- finger filters etc.
"just don't remind me !" Thanks for doing the tests and making my event just
more believable. I didn't have any followers when I scrapped the finger
filters and since then a friend has produced "brass finger tubes" with many
deburred holes in them which I am successfully flying. (he was intent on my
preservation) Of course finger filters have in the past prevented many fuel
failures but I believe they are somewhat redundant with nylon tanks. The
best way is to use pre-filters when filling the tank, or another extreme is
to "shave the dog" as Neveille Eyre, ex-Europa factory fame suggested.
Also an annual inspection and mopping out hole in the tank top would help as
per mod of fitting fuel level sensors in the tank top.

kitchen sink. we have a yellow lab. Anyway it didn't take long for the
strainer to get clogged. after a while the dog hair began to get few and far
between. I decided to try an experiment, I made a template to only expose a
3/16" hole. Dog hair had no problem with just a fews hairs that would
somehow lay across 3/16" hole and after a while just clog it.

having a screen on tank outlets will save you by just passing hair through
to filter, it will create a net and then catches debris and other hair like
a magnet.

Thanks for your thoughts on the pump setup in G-IRON. You are absolutely
right about the electrical connector setup. We missed that when doing this
board even though I had separated them in G-IANI.
The filters are the later type with the cast centre section (not the tube).
These do not need the springs as the filter buts against a fixed stop.

Mod 10602 was for the Averlec Fuel Gauge. I never used that gauge, as
Europa introduced their fuel gauge, but the large "manhole" cover makes for
easy access to the tank. Copy of 10602 attached.
For most purposes the hole for the Europa fuel gauge (Mod 60) should be
sufficient. It is big enough to get a vacuum cleaner hose in.

Yes Trio has a good reputation.
Only the roll autopilot mod (SM 10507) was approved by the LAA directly.
The Roll Autopilot became Europa Mod 75 and I documented the Altitude hold
as Europa Mod 76. Mod 76 does not cover the auto trim feature of the Trio.
Mike Parkin is, I believe, experimenting with the auto trim but I have not
heard what progress he has made. Francis Donaldson has some reservations
regarding autopilots and electric pitch (see this months LA article). As my
aircraft uses the TruTrak servos, I cannot do the work on this directly. If
someone is making progress I will be happy to feed this back into the Europa
mods.

thanks
Yes I have this mod BUT obedient (this was the early days) to the
instructions it came with I put it under the headrest.....so given that
I don't have quadruple jointed arms it will be difficult to use this as
a mopping out hole. That is unless someone has another mod for making
the headrest removable - perhaps one could cut it off make a flange and
then use screws/nut plates to put it back in place. I suppose the other
option is to remove the tank fuel outlet assembly and the finger
strainers annually which looks considerably easier.
Any ideas?

Subject: | RR Up-date #14 & Dog and Pony shows. |
Gentleman,
I will hopefully confirm today or tomorrow that we have the meeting
room for Saturday AM and any other time we'll need it. There is also a
small room at the airport for a gathering should we also need it.
I'm going to start a list of topics here on this page. I have ask Bud
Yearly to cover the ones you see as he has had a lot of request for
this info. He wants us all to join in as a discussion. If you would
like to add to this list, place your name first then the topic you
want to cover. Once we have an agenda we can make a plan to cover it
at the meeting room or at the runway. For all of us and our wives, I
would ask that we keep these reasonably short and to the point. The
topics should be ones that most would be interested in. Remember...
this fly-in is to learn but mostly to have FUN and a lot of it.
Too much classroom will send my wife scurrying to a store to spend
money. I know your going to say there aren't any stores out there....
well you don't know my wife!
Perhaps these would be better served in the meeting room.
Anyone that has solved a problem can chime in at anytime. This should
be informal discussion at it's best.
1. Bud: Most important is the SB on the MG wing.
2. Bud: Next would be the Refueling safety
3. Bud: Finally is the long awaited New Airmaster Props.
5. Bud: Solving short field and stall characteristics by use of
VGs.... Very interesting!
6. Bud: New Rotax Ideas in the Fuel Injection arena... Jeff likes this
topic! I hear Rotac... the radial guys have a bolt on injector that
works well on the 9 series engine.
7.
8.
9.
10.
Perhaps these would be better served on the flight line.
1. Bud-Jeff & All: Cooling issues.
2. Kim Prout: Speed Mods etc. Kim let me know if there is more you
would like to cover or if I have this wrong.
3.
4.
5.
Please add your name and topic onto this list. This will give us a
better chance of planning the times.
Thanks to all that want to contribute. Wow what a great event this
will be!! I am praying to the weather gods every day!
Regards,
Jeff R.

Hmmm, airbrakes that are not quite effective as we would like.
Any ideas how to raise (mixed) ailerons when you apply airbrakes (crow)?
That should help out a bit and effectively give you more washout at the same time.

Gentleman,
I will hopefully confirm today or tomorrow that we have the meeting
room for Saturday AM and any other time we'll need it. There is also a
small room at the airport for a gathering should we also need it.
I'm going to start a list of topics here on this page. I have ask Bud
Yearly to cover the ones you see as he has had a lot of request for this
info. He wants us all to join in as a discussion. If you would like to
add to this list, place your name first then the topic you want to
cover. Once we have an agenda we can make a plan to cover it at the
meeting room or at the runway. For all of us and our wives, I would ask
that we keep these reasonably short and to the point. The topics should
be ones that most would be interested in. Remember... this fly-in is to
learn but mostly to have FUN and a lot of it.
Regards,
Jeff R.

Subject: | Re: RR Up-date #14 & Meeting times |
Guys,
The large meeting room is booked with a wedding that day. They have
another room down the hall called the Terrace room but it can't be
used till 5:pm. It's cost is $75 and we can go as late as necessary.
My suggestion would be to meet at the flight line and cover as much as
necessary. Then we can also use the lounge right there as well. My
guess is the wives wouldn't want to attend anyway so the small lounge
may work.
If you like chime in here and give me your vote. I can book the
meeting room for 5:p and we can all chip in there to pay for it. It
will seat over 50 so we'll have plenty of room and perhaps a dry erase
board as well.
This will place our Saturday supper late. Hey maybe we could eat there
as well? I'll check on it.

Here's a photo of the series recommended Rotax fuel pump setup using
manifolds. They had this at the Rotax maintenance class I attended in
Canada. Nice and clean. These manifolds and this setup were designed for
use in certified 914s. I was going to buy the manifolds until I found out
they had "precious certified" costs as well. I went to McMasters and
Aircraft Spruce and found "off the shelf" manifolds that worked for much
less. Thanks to Dan Bish A144 for digging these out. He also has a photo in
the Europa build gallery on this setup.

Guys,
The large meeting room is booked with a wedding that day. They have another
room down the hall called the Terrace room but it can't be used till 5:pm.
It's cost is $75 and we can go as late as necessary.=C2-
My suggestion would be to meet at the flight line and cover as much as nece
ssary. =C2-Then we can also use the lounge right there as well. My guess
is the wives wouldn't want to attend anyway so the small lounge may work.
=C2-
If you like chime in here and give me your vote. I can book the meeting roo
m for 5:p and we can all chip in there to pay for it. It will seat over 50
so we'll have plenty of room and perhaps a dry erase board as well.=C2-
This will place our Saturday supper late. Hey maybe we could eat there as w
ell? I'll check on it.

Gentleman,
I will hopefully confirm today or tomorrow that we have the meeting room fo
r Saturday AM and any other time we'll need it. There is also a small room
at the airport for a gathering should we also need it.=C2-
I'm going to start a list of topics here on this page. I have ask Bud Yearl
y to cover the ones you see as he has had a lot of request for this info. H
e wants us all to join in as a discussion. If you would like to add to this
list, place your name first then the topic you want to cover. Once we have
an agenda we can make a plan to cover it at the meeting room or at the run
way. For all of us and our wives, I would ask that we keep these reasonably
short and to the point. The topics should be ones that most would be inter
ested in. Remember... this fly-in is to learn but mostly to have FUN and a
lot of it.=C2-
Too much classroom will send my wife scurrying to a store to spend money. I
know your going to say there aren't any stores out there.... well you don'
t know my wife!
Perhaps these would be better served in the meeting room.
Anyone that has solved a problem can chime in at anytime. This should be in
formal discussion at it's best.
1. Bud: Most important is the SB on the MG wing.
2. Bud: Next would be the Refueling safety
3. Bud: Finally is the long awaited New Airmaster Props.
5. Bud: Solving=C2-short field=C2-and stall characteristics by use of V

6. Bud: New Rotax Ideas in the Fuel Injection arena... Jeff likes this topi

on the 9 series engine.=C2-

2. Kim Prout: Speed Mods etc. Kim let me know if there is more you would li
ke to cover or if I have this wrong.

Please add your name and topic onto this list. This will give us a better c

Thanks to all that want to contribute. Wow what a great event this will be!

Jeff/All,
Given that the large conference room is unavailable, the room at the
airstrip/flightline sounds fine to me...and before we dive into
technical issues, I continue to favor a "kick-off" session for
introductions and to celebrate our gathering...afterall, some
attendees will have come a long distance...flying in planes they built
themselves...(that's gotta be worth celebrating!).
So before getting buried in a batch of technical discussions, I'd like
to get some insight about who I'm rubbing shoulders with...my
preference is that the first session be dedicated to hearing up to 5
or 6 minutes from each attendee who'd like to say something about
themselves, their Europa journey, and what they hope to get out of RR/
2010.
I would also favor structuring the technical sessions in such a manner
that it's possible to slip out to the flightline at will so I can
drool over the gaggle...(I'll take some paper towels...)

Hi! Jerry.
The one way/non return valves (vis:- Europa designed system) are conspicuous
by their absence.
What say you about this?..........I guess anything can look really tidy if
some of the kit is missed out?

Here's a photo of the series recommended Rotax fuel pump setup using
manifolds. They had this at the Rotax maintenance class I attended in
Canada. Nice and clean. These manifolds and this setup were designed for
use in certified 914s. I was going to buy the manifolds until I found out
they had "precious certified" costs as well. I went to McMasters and
Aircraft Spruce and found "off the shelf" manifolds that worked for much
less. Thanks to Dan Bish A144 for digging these out. He also has a photo in
the Europa build gallery on this setup.
