There is a piece in the Safety Spot in Septembers Light Aviation about
the same problem (though the answer may not be the same). Go to
http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/2010/Magazine/2010/Sep/Safety.p
df and look at the Himax article. In that case the problem was neither
the battery nor the regulator/rectifier.

Troy,
After we left RR Sunday we stayed the night in Ponca City,OK (KPNC). We were
greeted by the Mayor and given the keys to the mini van and club house!
Monday we called it quits in Winslow, AZ (KINW) where the fuel guy said "you
did'nt hear it from me, but if you look under the floor mat of the old blue
station wagon you'll find the keys". We had some great laughs cruising route
66 in our '81 Reliant wagon. So we did add a couple days to our RR 2010
Europa adventure!

Jeroen, I guess that is why UK permit aircraft have the same mechanical
accident rate as certified aircraft, whilst US rates are 3 times higher. I
am pretty sure there are set industry standards as to how much overlap you
need to provide full strength at a joint. There are a lot of things of
consequence that my inspector taught me, such as getting just the right
degree of wetness when laying up glass (to give optimal strength and
lightness) and the critical importance of sanding very thoroughly any
surfaces you are going to bond. If you can find a glider repair firm in your
part of the world it might be worth asking there for a bit of direction.
Best of luck, David

One of the highlights for me of the fly-in occurred at the very end
with the departure of the west coasters in a flight of 3...Kevin K.,
Kim P., and Erich T.
Following an offset/staggered formation take off (which would have
compared favorably to any ANG F-16 gaggle), they had agreed to a
request for a high speed low pass which would be captured digitally
for posterity.
Taking a wide pattern, they were seen joining up in a gentle
climb...the minutes ticked by...photographers out on the runway
readied their cameras.
First seen as specks, they descended and accellerated...yes, it would
be a LOW pass indeed. As they approached...3 monowheels, LG tucked,
at (seemingly) WOT, they were nonetheless whisper-quiet...and
gradually observers could hear the increasing whine of the 914s. The
harmonics of multiple engines were audible and which quickly became a
roar.
One photographer was taken back to a time at Oshkosh when he
experienced a symphony of Merlins during a fly by of Kermit Weeks'
Mosquito bomber and the synchronized Allisons of a P-38 Lightning...
(you had to have been there). The photographer became lost in his
reverie.
And in a split second they were overhead...and they were
gone...climbing into the sun, and heading home.
Alas...the photographer has decided to keep his day job...

Jeroen,
Check that the firewall is not warped forward at the top edge. Mine was and caused
the joggle gap at the rear to be too large. I drilled a 1/4" hole at the center
of the firewall, threaded an eye bolt thru it and a 2"x4", tied the bolt
off to a stick placed in the head rests, to hold it straight up while getting
the top molding fitted. Over the course of building, removing and replacing the
top for trial fitting things, it became straight as it should before actually
bonding the top on. Hope this was relevant to your question. If not, my apologies.

Thanks Frank,
So many causes of electrical problems !
I charged my battery today, went to about 13V, but then as I held the
voltmeter on the reading slowly
began to decrease, working it's way down to the previously indicated
11.6V
I'm presuming this is a battery in need of replacement.
