HI All, I was needing to replace one of the bent tube assemblies that the choke cable runs thru at the carb. I figured a little soft brass tube part can't be but a few bucks so I called Lockwood. WOW! $41.00 each! The thing is 3 inches of bent 1/4 inch brass. Has any one replaced these with their own assembly? I have an idea of a bracket that would be stronger and more secure but I thought I would check in on the list to see if others have come up with somethings first. I can afford the part but I hate being raped just because they can. Get that enough from the government! Thanks in advance! Jeff R. Jeff, Are those brass? You should be able to fashion one from brake line tubing (or brass tubing) from local auto parts house. They should have a line bending tool, too. The stuff is really cheap... I returned from flying last evening and my wife gave me one sniff and said, ah you have been with your mistress again.... alas I could not deny it. I was wondering if any one has used fluorescent dye successfully for chasing down fuel leaks, and if so could you suggest a supplier. After placing the dye in the tank, with taped cotton balls at all possible leak locations. After waiting a day, we used the UV light to inspect the cotton balls for the leak. Worked well. Among others, I would like to remove the landing gear frame to get it sandblasted and powdercoated. However, it's not only held in place by 8 bolts, but also by a green-ish cement, which I presume is a mixture of Redux and flox. Is there any trick to ease the removal of this frame ? Any way to soften the cement without damage the fuselage ?
