A bit off topic but who cares, te U2 is a monowheel just like the Europa, n o =0Awonder they have such trouble on the runway! In fact today, more =0Athan 50 years since it went into production, the U-2 flies higher than any =0Aaircraft in the world with the exception of the space shuttle. =0A=0A=0AIt is flying more missions and longer missio ns than ever before -nearly 70 =0Amissions a month over Iraq and Afghanist an, an operational tempo that is =0Aunequaled in history. =0A=0A=0AThe pil ots fly for 11 hours at a time, sometimes more than 11 hours up there =0Aal one. =0A=0A=0ABy flying so high, the U-2 has the capability of doing reconn aissance =0A=0Aover a country without actually violating its airspace. =0A =0AIt can look off to the side, peering 300 miles or more inside a country without =0Aactually flying over it. =0A=0A=0AIt can "see" in the dark and t hrough clouds. =0A=0AIt can also "hear," intercepting conversations 14 mile s below. =0A=0AThe U-2, an incredible piece of history and also a current p iece of =0A=0Ahigh technology, is at the center of the wars in Iraq and Af ghanistan. =0A=0AEnjoy the ride! =0A=0ALockheed U-2 =0A=0ATake A Ride in a Spy Plane, Click the link below. Folks, I'm preparing a "Permit to Fly" application for my Mono XS and have two questions with respect to two "Graham Singleton Mods. I've searched the forum archives and found some 2008 correspondence, and am wondering if there have been any developments. Phenolic Firewall Mod: This does not seem to be a LAA Standard mod, should I apply for it as a Repeat Mod with concommitant fee..? XS Rudder Pushrod Mod: This appears as on the LAA list a Standard Mod (11414) for XS Trigears, does it apply to the Mono as well..? Regards, Dave Dave Moore Mono XS 550 Aberdeen UK

Hi Dave I too am preparing an application for a Permit to Fly for my XS Mono and I had the same queries regarding the Singleton mods. I asked Andy Draper for clarification and he confirmed that for the XS Mono both are Repeat Mods. I was told to use 10410 as the mod number for the Phenolic Firewall Mod and 10371 for the Tailwheel Steering and Rudder Pushrod Mod. Graham and Dave I too am preparing an application for a Permit to Fly for my XS Mono. Earlier this year I asked Andy Draper for clarification regarding mod numbers and was told that for the XS Mono both mods are Repeat Mods. For the phenolic firewall the mod number to quote is 10410 rather than 11123. On the LAA database 11123 is actually attributed to a Cozy aircraft - Andy thought this might be because the modifications database came into being after Graham first applied for this mod. For the tailwheel steering/rudder pushrod mod the number to quote is 10371. After some money had passed I got both mods approved without any problem. Hi Dave I got both these mods approved as Repeat Mods. Andy Draper told me to quote 10410 in my repeat mod application for the Phenolic Firewall and 10371 for the Tailwheel Steering/Rudder Push-rod mod.
