I guess the 2 pins may eventually wear the holes and introduce play but I think the rest of the aeroplane may have worn out long before. Michel - picture attached with my posting. Richard - I purchased my Torque tube early last year and I think the design had been around for a while before (at least 6 months). If you could post a picture of your tube then I/the forum could easily identify what type it is. Centre section (originally TP9) is beefed up and on the grounds that it is zinc plated, it won't be stainless steel. 2. The tailplane drive assemblies (TP12) are heavier according to my numbers and so yes, they are a thicker guage. Not sure how much thicker. I got more replies than I hoped for. Everything makes sense. As far as I remember the alignment of the bolts was ok. I see some scuffing marks on the surfaces, but there is no measurable wear. So far I assume that misalignment is not an issue (but for sure I will check this if the play returns). I will just reposition the tefnol surface in the manner suggested by many forum members. Now I just have to wait until the weather is warm enough to allow the Araldite to cure. > I have cut out a small part of the wing fairing on the underside, just > aft of the spar, about four inches long. I will follow this procedure if the play re-occurs. Thanks! Thanks everyone for the assistance!!! Hi everyone, Can anyone enlighten me what the supposed function of the OR6 is (the plastic spreader between the outer flap supports)? One end of the flap supports is held apart by the wing and the other end by the hinge bolt. I can't think of any twisting, spreading, compressing force here so it appears to me that the OR6 has no function and is just a "remainder" of the outrigger assembly of the monowheel. Any thoughts? (I'm just trying to understand what forces are at play here, and I don't like it if I don't know what the function is of something). For my annual I need to take the main wheels of the ground, one at a time. What is the best way of doing so? I have the leg fairings installed, so I can't use the legs. The area where the leg protrudes from the fuselage is curved, so I can't use a piece of wood either. Before I reinvent the wheel I would like to hear what others have thought out. (In case you are wondering how I built this flying machine: I had a full length craddle, and lifted the entire airplane once the gear was ready with a hoist. Neither the hoist nor the craddle are available anymore). Frans, This is where I go to place a soft piece of foam then the wood and jack. Works every time. Jeff R. Remove the split pin and slacken the nut. Slide the tube into the axle, put a jack under the end of the tube and lif t the wheel clear of the ground. Run the nut off onto the tube, followed by the wheel and bearings. Put the block of wood under the axle and lower the jack. Bingo ! Refitting is the reverse, slide the tube through the bearings and wheel, along with the nut, slide the assembly into the axle, pick up with the ja ck, remove the wood block and slide the bearings / wheel onto the axle, ru n the nut up until it nips. Drop the jack, fit new splitpin.
